C&C Boyz Makin’ Noise
How bout Chris Young and Chris Capuano dominating spring training!?!
When we signed the odds are neither of these guys will bounce back to have a winning season but right now it looks like both men have regained their once great form.
I caught Sunday’s game on the Marlin network and Young was in complete control. Can’t wait to see this guy once the bell rings.

The best part of Castillo moving on is uniform number 1 will be returned to it’s rightful owner: Mookie Wilson.
The worst part is that Castillo may be signing with Philly to plug the hole created by Utley’s knee. Despite the unanimous hatred of him round here he can still hit. Sure his defensive range has diminished but he’s a much better player than anyone in NY is willing to give him credit for.
He can certainly still beat you with a hit and even steal a base. Plus you know he’s going to be rejuvenated and super motivated playing against the Mets.

BMF is still pulling for Brad Emaus to win the second base job.
I’m also still hoping Met destiny child Pedro Beato makes the pen and sticks with the team.

Can we puleezee release Perez already so we can all move on with our lives?
Do you think Perez’ loss of velocity is a result of no longer being on the juice?

Mookie is #1? Dang! It looks like they better tell Hubie’s twin brother Garth that Mookie got the number now!

Unfortunately I could not get tix for Billy Joel’s concerts at The Original SHEA 3 years ago or so, but if you were there, I hope you had a blast.
I got both the regular DVD and Blueray versions but just watched the DVD version. Wow! It really is a polished production, but the shots of Shea are awsome! Even if you are not a fan of Billy Joel, it’s one of the better concerts I have seen spliced together after two shows. I was glad that that he inserted the Mets into “Miami:2017″ , but there were too many skankee fans in audience for my liking…even one is too many
Anyway, I am looking forward to this season, come Hell or high water!

“Do you think Perez’ loss of velocity is a result of no longer being on the juice?”
I doubt it. Actually I think he probably still has his velocity but can’t throw hard and for a strike at the same time. So it’s 92 over the backstop or 87 in (ok near) the strike zone. Neither is particularly effective.

Watch Ollie go to the Phillies too, hahaha. Fine with me, take all our castoffs!
March 21st, 2011 at 9:18 am
How could Ollie’s loss of Velocity have anything to do with “the juice”? He was still throwing in the mid 90’s in ‘08…Ollie’s problems are because…
-He’s always had poor mechanics and he’s gotten worse after the Mullet left…
-he’s suffered that knee injury in 09 (I believe), which killed his mechanics and workout program.
-Once the Mullet got fired, Ollie stopped the 3P Pitching Program that was a huge factor in Ollie’s turn around in 07.
-Odds are, because of his poor mechanics and knee injury, he’s probably hurt his arm.
Anyways, it doesn’t matter Ollie is gone! Yes FGMF, now I’ve been officially proven wrong on something…but when it comes to Ollie/Castillo making the roster, I’ll happily been wrong any day.
Now if we could only get rid of Castro…
And raise your hand if you’re worried that the Phills picked up Slappy McSingleton? Didn’t think so…Even if Luis hits .300 for them, all that means is Utley is out of the line up.
Even if Luis rebounds at the plate, he’d still have have an OBP of +.380 to hold par with Utley…and the Phills are going to lose out on 30HRs and 60RBIs
That also leaves a huge hole on the right side of their infield, there D up the middle is toast…I’ve always liked Rollins and Howard, but Rollins range is not what it used to be and Howard does a good job at balls hit at him, but his range to the right is week…
What’s with Philly always picking up our Sloppy Seconds anyways?

New Flash !!!!!! Just read on New York Daily News Website- Ollie Perez has been CUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lets go Mets !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

USMF: “Slappy McSingleton” — my favorite moniker of the year here on BMF. Add in the Castro line, and we may well have my nomination for post of the year. Kudos.
If we’re worried that the Phillies picked up a guy who totaled 44 extra base hits over his four years as a Met…
cleonjones: Mets fans everywhere join in your joy today. Let’s go Mets!

“The best part of Castillo moving on is uniform number 1 will be returned to it’s rightful owner: Mookie Wilson.”
AGREED.
I honestly don’t think he’ll be super-motivated against us in particular, I just think he’ll be motivated it being his first year on a new, winninger team. Plus for some reason I don’t see him gelling with those guys very well for some reason. Anyway I don’t care! lol
If Ollie’s smart he’ll just fade away.
Really looking forward to the rotation, I was hoping Parnell would be moved forward, we shall see though!

We should call him “Slappy McHitAWeakGrounderIntoAnInningEndingDoublePlay.”

by “move forward” I mean in the forefront, vs. k-rod, been working too much with objects in Word lately, lol.

I love Sandy Alderson—the guy has a clue, a plan, the ability to make hard decisions and to carry them out. What a concept!
USMF: well done on the humility. If there was anything to ever be wrong about, you picked it. Perez and Castillo are gone! Glory hallelujah!
March 21st, 2011 at 11:24 am
Buh bye Ollie! Don’t think it hasn’t been a little slice of heaven, cause it hasn’t! Don’t let the bullpen door hitcha where the good lord splitcha.
LET’S GO METS GO!

I can’t find any indication that the Mets have done anything to help the survivors in Japan and that pisses me off. If anybody knows anything different, would you please mention it? Sorry for hijacking, BMF, thanks.
March 21st, 2011 at 4:52 pm
Prof - have you seen any indication that other teams have done anything? I could see something like that being handled at the top by MLB.

Hi Fellow Mets Fans:
Its good to see everyone coming back to the fold of a new year of NY Mets baseball.
So I heard that Johan is feeling so much better that he believes that he can provide a very soothing massage of his new girlfriend with his left arm on the golf course where he plays.
I also heard that Beltran was also feeling much better until he got rid of his walker and tried walking on his own.
I also heard that Bay has no lingering effects of a concussion but he lost his memory and has forgotten how to hit.
Welcome back fellow Mets fans. It should be a fun year until the end of April when we are out of contention.

Mike, Ichiro immediately donated over $1 million, and the Rays have donated and will be doing a matching setup during their entire season-opening series. I happened to be on the Rays site and saw it, I haven’t checked all teams.

If Castillo wins a Gold Glove and a batting crown and Ollie wins the Cy Young award for someone else, good for them but good riddance.
The two were always going to disappoint in New York and the Mets are a better team without them.
Here’s to a front office putting it’s money where it’s mouth is!
LETS GO METS!!!
