Doc Diggin’ Celebrity Rehab

The ‘86 Legendary Met update of the day comes from our buddy Dwight Gooden who is taking full advantage of his stint in Dr. Drew’s Celebrity Rehab.

BMF got a call from Dwight thursday afternoon direct from the Pasadena Rehab Facility. If you watch the show you know patients are given limited access to a house phone and as a dedicated fan I could instantly picture the exact spot Doc was sitting while we spoke - it was undoubtedly a double take “is this really my life” moment for me.

He’s already through the detox portion of the experience and has now “kicked” his heavy Ambien addiction.

Doc sounded as upbeat as I’ve ever heard him and was excited about the work he’s been able to get done with Dr. Drew. Part of the CelebRehab program is family members and sometimes friends will visit.

Doc’s 24 year old son Dwight Jr, whose known as Lil Doc in the world of rap, visited his father this past week.

But the real surprise visitor was none other than ex-86 Met teammate Lenny Dykstra!

Holy Crap I can’t wait for this to air!

How bout Justin Turner making a late offensive push with 2 hits and 3 RBI including a 2B off Papelbon and the BoSox.

Word is cuts are a comming on Friday so don’t be surprised if Castillo and/or Perez are sent packing.

Sounds like D-Murph will be a utility guy which means he is out of the running in starting 2B battle.

Gotta say I still find it strange that Luis Hernandez is the leading candidate…

I will always love DOC !! I hope and pray he gets better. CUT OLLIE AND CASTILLO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why are they still on the team ?????

  2. Original62Fan Says:

Celebrity Rehab? Who cares? I’ve never seen a single “reality” show.
I just want to watch baseball.

2011 marks a special 25th anniversary: 25 years of Gooden “kicking” his addictions. Party on, doc! Glad your diggin’ your celebrity detox!! And now “Nails” is in the house! It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood, as Mr. Rogers would say.

  4. USMF Says:

I’m telling ya all….don’t expect Ollie or Castillo to be cut today, or even this weekend.

If fact, I’ve said it earlier this camp, either Ollie or Castillo will be on the roster come opening day.

As long a Ollie is getting people out from the Pen, he’ll stick around until the final week…They seem hell bent on giving him every chance to fail…unfortunately, he’s done just enough not to get cut.

Castillo is sadly our best option at 2nd…nobody else has stepped up to take the spot from him. It’s sad because I think long term the Mets are better off parting ways with Castillo now…They’ve been practically handing the job to anybody besides Luis, but nobody as shown they are close to passable…

  5. Mr. Met Says:

Orrrr……Castillo is already gone, don’t post to early, lol. But, uh, I’m still not to convinced about this Luis Hernandez at 2B thing. Ugh, I dunno…..

  6. Florida Met Fan Rich Says:

^USMF….I am going to disagree with you on this one and say that one of the two will be gone by Monday.

I believe it will be Castillo and my reasoning is that he has been whinning and mopping around about playing time…..Kind of cancerous to to a team that needs to be headed in the other direction.

Plus the fact he is only 1/2 the cost of OP.

To cleonjones: CUT CASTILLO will happen by Monday, March 20th!…You heard it here first! A BMF exclusive!

  7. cleonjones Says:

Thanks for the input Mets fans- I am just tired of OLLIE and CASTILLO on our team- They need to be cut !!!!!! Even the Knicks traded Eddie Curry.

  8. cleonjones Says:

I Just read on the NY Daily News Website Castillo has been cut !!!!!!!!!!!!! Here we go !!! Now on to OLLIE !!!! This is good news !!!!

  9. USMF Says:

Wow, I’m pleasantly surprised that they cut him so early, and some what surprised they did it at all…

I’m hoping now that with Castillo gone, it might affect their decisions when comes to cutting Perez and eating 12mil…

  10. Fort Greene Met Fan Says:

    There is a god.

    Buhbye, Luis!!

So USMF, I guess you’re not ALWAYS right…;)

  11. USMF Says:

FGMF, well technically I said “don’t expect Ollie or Castillo to be cut today”…I never said that they wouldn’t be cut, I just said don’t expect it.

so I wasn’t wrong, just not correct…um yeah…sure…anyways, I’m happy Luis is gone, I feel bad for the guy. I thought that while he didn’t live up to expectations, he got a lot of unfair wrath from the fans.

I’m hope I’m wrong in my prediction that Ollie or Luis would make the team, because that means that it’s going to be Ollie…and seeing that he was effective again today (if only mediocre at doing it) he’s getting closer to pulling it off. Sadly, I think we’ve got better guys for the Pen that I’d hate to lose for because they felt compelled to keep Ollie Only to see him fall flat once the season begins.)

  12. PhillyG Says:

Thank you for dumping Castillo, 2 years to late though.

  13. Florida Met Fan Rich Says:

    Now The Big Question Remains.

Will Mookie Wilson take back #1?

  14. Met_Maven Says:

So, how long till Philly signs Castillo and he has a career renaissance?

  15. Fort Greene Met Fan Says:

It’s okay, USMF, no one thinks you’re perfect so you can stop pretending ;) .

Now let’s hope you are ALSO wrong about Ollie and we dump him too!!

  16. CowCrusher Says:

Somebody ought to smack LiL doc upside the head for sporting that Skankee hat on SNY last year. Yes, his dad played for them later in his career, but the silver spoon in lil doc’s mouth came from playing with the Mets first, the other spoon was for snortin’ the snow… and I don’t mean the stuff that comes out of the sky!
Of course, all that “snow” could of affected Dwight’s sperm and caused his offspring to have poor taste in baseball teams.
