Big Pelf Year?
I’m worried and excited to see Pelfrey attack 2011. While I still think he’s an underrated pitcher he’s gonna have a helluva time squaring off against the NL’s aces.
The ideal slot for him this season would be 3. He’d be a top half of the rotation pitcher but would get the added advantage of matching up against the 3’s as opposed to the 1’s.
I think he could make a solid 2 but being the top guy in the rotation is sure to knock a couple W’s off that 15win total from last year.

Missed the game yesterday, due to the fact that I could not get tickets. heading over to Ft. Myers this morning for the annual “St . Patty’s Day “Game 6″ Showdown” at around 1 PM.

Unfortunately, Pelf IS our #1. He just needs to man up and bear down (or is it bare down? - I’m sure IrishMike will correct me).

It is actually bare all. That is his best bet to distract opposing hitters.

“sure to knock a couple W’s off that 15win total from last year.”
I would like to think that is wishful thinking I think Pelf is going to be a .500 pitcher at best. I have seem him pitch on several occasions this spring and it does not seen that his fastball has the usual zip.
Yes I know its spring training and all that, but he just does not look the same.
He is going to have to use his other pitches more to be effective. I hope you are right with your prediction, but I am not real confident about that.

Maybe 15 wins…maybe .500…this guy was a top draft pick and has been in the majors since 2006…it’s time for him to either step and pitch like a top draft pick or send him off with Heilman, Humber, Wilson, and Presley….

JJ: you mean Elvis?
IM: actually, I believe it’s “bare a**”

I don’t think its “unfortunate” Pelf is our number 1. It’s not the best scenario, but its far from unfortunate. I think Big Pelf will win anywhere from 14 - 18 games this year. His ERA might go up, but I have faith. As for RA, I think he can win 13 - 16 Games, its the other starters I’m worried about. The remaining 3 could be .500 at best, but this is the spring, the season hasn’t started yet and as far as I’m concerned, they all have the potential to blow us all away an win, win, win!
Happy St. Patricks Day! Erin Go Braless!

Why do I shake my head in disbelief in every comment by Phanatic ? I should be used to him by now

That “since 2006″ is really not fair, don’t you think?
Pelf will be fine, I wouldn’t judge him by the spring at ALL. This year he’s not fighting for a spot, he’s got nothing to prove, I wouldn’t be surprised if Warthen just told him to go out there and work on his zones.
And he’s probably reading the “one pitch v. delivery” debate about Strahhhsberg with interest and doesn’t want to burn it so early.
I expect his adrenalin to go skyrocket once the season starts and he’s facing real rosters in the box.

Well the Luck of the Irish were not smiling too much on the Mets today. Too many errors in the infield put our boys in blue and orange (and road grays) behind the Bosox. However a nice four run rally in the top of the ninth which made mincemeat out of Papelbon…..soon after his superfluous musical entrance It looked liked Game 6 all over again but alas a loss for the Metsies. I ran into some great Met fans from all over and there were one or two jokers with skankee garb on. I have a lot of respect for Bosox fans… But you seem to get a “vibe” that some are going the way of the skank’s fans via “Moneyball”. Anyway it was a great pitcher’s duel for a little while between Neise and Lackey.
I saw a cool t-shirt that some dude was wearing.. “even Jesus Hates the Yankees”. If someone knows where I can find one, please let me know.
