Gooden to Celebrity Rehab? Not Quite Yet

News broke Wednesday via TMZ that Dwight Gooden was headed to rehab celebrity style on VH1’s hit show.

Of course all media outlets quickly ran with the story but as of late Wednesday eve I can tell you for a fact there was no contract signed by the Gooden camp. It may take at least a couple of days to work things out.

And there is no guarantee he will appear on show.

BMF has become tight with Gooden and his small team so I can attest that Celebrity Rehab has been trying to land Doc for well over a year. Although things will hopefully work out there is no deal in place… yet.

Doc’s issue isn’t with alcohol or cocaine as one might assume based on his well chronicled past transgressions. Instead it’s sleep medication.

I for one hope he is able to take advantage of this opportunity. I’m a big fan of the show as well as a believer in Dr Drew who is a genuinely educated and compassionate doctor (unlike that clown Dr Phil)

One of the benefits of appearing on the series is it allows people to see celebrities as real people with real struggles not merely headlines related to drugs and arrests.

Doc could use the PR boost because he’s really a tremendous guy but his headlines of late never mention that.

Because the Mets NEED more bad press. Good god, I might as well root for Qaddafi.

Why is it that people need to work out their PRIVATE problems IN PUBLIC? I hate that aspect of contemporary culture. Keep it to yourself, ugh.

Love Doc, ALWAYS will. But I have no respect for people who trade their privacy for money.

    Cut Ollie and Castro !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked Dr. Drew on that relationship show, don’t watch the rehab thing. He always reminded me of the Norton Utilities guy.
My viewpoint is like seeing a tubsy jogging in spandex: Don’t mock anyone that is truly trying to better himself.

Anyway, I’ll be glued today at 1 p.m. for the clash of the titans, Ollie v. Albert. Who will win? What will happen to our hero?

I’ve never seen a (so-called) reality show. I only watch baseball games and The History Channel. Who is TMZ, Dr. Drew and Dr. Phil?

Save this stuff for mid year when we are 25 games out of first place and spiraling towards the basement.

Look I know its early and ots Spring Training but don’t you think we should be able to beat somebody besides the University of Michigan?

I have been to 4 games so far and I just don’t see the comradery with this team. I guess we need more bowling nights!

Anyway maybe we can beat a split squad Marlin team. I know they don’t count but I don’t want this team to get to get used to losing.

Its an attitude and this team needs to get some!

We’re forgetting about today being the best day in Mets land for over two years…A day we all have been waiting for!

Today is officially the day that we end this BS charade that Perez will ever start again for the Mets. Hopefully it continues down the “Ollie will be cut” path as well.

Unless Ollie can find another 10MPH on his pitches, he’s done. But Ollie’s been throwing all winter in Mexico, there’s no way that he just needs more time to build strength.

Lets face it, everyone knew that this chance he got was just for show…Ya make the players union happy, ya made Scott Bore-ass happy…you gave him his “shot” he sucked now lets let the players with a real chance pitch.

Now hopefully, a LH pitcher steps it up in the Pen so there isn’t even a thought of keeping him around for that role.

Not to mention, after a first good day, Castillo is proving that while he may be sightly better with the glove, his slight lead he has for the job is getting smaller with every ball he misplays and every week tapper/blooper he hits.

I am watching Ollie pitch .. with Murphy at 2B ?? OMG - is this the major leagues? I have to check my eyes? maybe Castillo can pitch the 9th??

Ft Greene - LOVED “Good god, I might as well root for Qaddafi.” .. LOVE it ! too funny

Blondies April 1 (not a fool joke) ? COUNT ME IN !! BMF better show .. Irish Mike? dude where u been? and Mrs. Coop .. can’t wait to see you!

  8. ProfessorReyes Says:

Okay he doesn’t get Pujols but Holliday should make it fun. I can’t see it being now or never for him though, I think they’ll give him another shot, maybe in a different role though.

  9. Fort Greene Met Fan Says:

Yeah, it’s high time BMF got the band back together for a reunion tour. We are not going to get through this season without group support and heavy drinking.

I am sure El Dude will join. When’s BJake coming to town? Professor Reyes, will I ever have the pleasure of taking a Spanish lesson in person?

I’m watching MLB Gameday, I see Murphy got a few shots at 2nd, how’s he looking?

And whats Ollie’s FB topping out at?

    Anyone watching?

  12. ProfessorReyes Says:

USMF, didn’t catch what it topped out as, but he was underwhelming as usual. They came out first pitch swinging, he had no place to hide.

Murphy looks very good. He actually caught the first pop out, and he just made a textbook tag at 2nd off a hard-hit double and a good throw in by Duda. Blocked the slide with his glove. Newenhwees made a very pretty running away catch in right earlier.

  13. Matt the Met Fan Says:

My TV must not be working - or my pain meds kicked in - but Murphy looks fine and Oliie.. well Oliie got out of innings ..Ike Davis solid.. and my prayer that FMart turns into Carlos Gonzalez doesn’t sound so ridiculous .. albeit far away ..

    162-0 ..

  14. BlondiesJake Says:

Would love to come join the crew at Blondies sometime soon but don’t think I’m getting to NYC until August this year. I think the offense will be good this season as Bay, Beltran and Reyes will almost assuredly play better than last year. Of course the staff is the real issue but Pelfrey, Niese, Dickey and Young should be solid, though unlikely to be dominant.

  15. Met_Maven Says:

Me thinks Cy Ollie should get a Charlie Sheen tiger blood transfusion so he will be filled with the WINNING!

All in all, I think the Mets will be solid, not contending but solid. WIn games they should lose, lose games they should win, and provide more heartache than being dumped at the altar! Gotta love Met Baseball!

    Lets Go Mets Go!

  16. Helix Says:

One of the hidden blessings about this pre-season so far is: zero expectations. We should embrace this philosophy in all areas of our life; we be a lot less stressed out.

Thank you Mets for the Zen enlightenment.
