Word up all my brother (and sister) Met fans. Gotta’ confess, I’ve been creepin’ the site for the last year or so but was so dejected, I didn’t have much nice to say.
Very pleased with our start thus far… sole possession of 3rd place at only 1 game back. Certainly better off than our cross-town nemesis gussying up the basement of the AL East.
Love John Buck… Newsday did a piece on his helmet art; seems like a solid player with a real sense of New York and a love for the Big Apple.
OK, here’s my gripe: What’s up with the new Met uniforms? The color combination on the cap alone is laughable. What ever happened to tradition in a game steeped in it? When a team tries to distract its fans by changing up its uniforms, that just smacks of desperation. Besides, the new look looks like shiite.
Can’t say I’m really feeling these videos—-now that there are actual games to discuss, let’s hear about them!
Considering my expectations for the season, I’m pretty happy. Like the addition of Buck, who seems to bring leadership, esp to the young rotation. The thing I’d like to see this team learn is consistency. If they can figure that out this season, I think we will be set up well for next.
I mean, really, mets really only have 2 starting P in rotation, Gee is really a 5th or 6th P, his margin of error is very slim simply caused he doesn’t have the stuff as Harvey etc, the other 2 spots, are simply automatic L on records! Don’t they have more Pitchers ??????
88: Marcum, if he’s healthy, will be a solid mid-rotation guy. He’s pitched to a decent WHIP and an era between 3.3 and 3.7 every year since 2008. Maybe it’s a big if, but he’s actually a very solid guy for the rotation, if he is healthy, which he hopefully will be. Billingsley starts for LA today, maybe Capuano will be available. Harang is definitely available, if they want him. Gee won’t always be as bad as yesterday, and Hefner will keep you in many games. Meanwhile, we all wait for Wheeler.
I’d rather be watching Montero, Wheeler and Mejia pitching than Gee, Hefner and whoever right now. I agree that Marcum is serviceable and hopefully he is healthy enough for us to find out soon but Gee and Hefner are an automatic L unless the Mets score 6+ runs each time they pitch. I also think that Harvey and Niese can vie for a Cy Young if they were on a better team this year.
buck: you need to get to Vegas and Binghamton then, or get an MiLB.TV subscription. Mejia’s got tendinitis at the moment, so I hope they don’t rush him back either. I feel your pain on the last two starts, but I don’t think that the young guys should be on the mound unless/until they are MLB ready.
TDFKABL - I hear ya………I’m just saying I’d rather watch the kids develop at this level, and possibly fail than to watch Gee and Hefner fail. I know they are not ready fully and more importantly realize the whole controlling them for an additional year if we wait rationale.
