Gotta Hand it to TC’s Team

This is exactly why you shouldn’t even consider firing Terry Collins. The Mets fought tooth and nail to plate 4 runs in the 9th and beat the Fish.

Josh Johnson was unsolveable for 8 frames but once he was out of the game the Mets got off the mat and grabbed the W.

It may be football season and very few actually care who wins this NY v MIA game in september but the Metsies sure did prove they’re still hungry and not giving an inch on the field.

Such a strange sight to see the Marlins playing out their epic fail of a season. I expected the Mets to be mediocre but the Marlins were in WS discussions back in March.

I said it before and I’ll say it again…if the Mets add a big OF RH bat, they will win a WC spot next season.

Meanwhile, Joel Sherman says the Mets should deal Wright, Dickey and Niese to build the farm system. He acts as though the Mets are so many players away they could never win with those guys anyway. I totally disagree. And after next year, when Santana and Bay’s deals are done, there will be plenty of cash available. The Wilpons have spent but haven’t spent well. I say give Alderson a chance to spend real $ and see what happens. In the meantime, keep giving prospects opportunities.

Your right about it being football season. I actually get the Mets/Marlins games televised here and to tell you the truth, I did not watch 1 inning.

They are so far out of it and the Marlins are worse, so they have become an afterthought.

Maybe today, if they are not up against a college football game. In Florida, football rules!

    BAY IS BACK!!!

win is a win. th fact that it was a last licks win, with two out makes it all the sweeter. let’s keep the winning spirit going and win a whole bunch more!

Who are these body snatchers and what did they do with the real Mets? That definitely wasn’t Jason Bay playing LF…

    BJake: Sherman is an idiot.

BJake: read another idiotic piece by Joe Sheehan in last week’s SI. This one made the case that Seattle needs to trade Felix Hernandez. Why, you ask? Especially as they have him under control for another two years? Well, Sheehan feels that it will be “good for baseball” and “in everyone’s best interest to see Hernandez pitch in big games in September and October.” It’s like the Joel Sherman article: same kind of nonsense.

Speaking of the Mets farm system…what is to come of the AAA Metsies? While I have heard that the BMets have signed up to stay in Bingo for at least 3 more years, the Jays are supposedly clamorimg for Buffalo . While the Nats have a contract to be here in Syracuse til 2014, it does not do them any good for their brand if and when they make the post season. you can only sell so many Strassburg and Harper jerseys to a fanbase that has no connection to DC. RIchmond Va. has been chomping at the bit to get AAA in their town since the Braves bolted for Gwinett years ago. The money is in expanding your brand and keep the money comimg and going up and down I-95
Having the Chiefs as the AAA affiliate here would makr the most sense with AA just about 65 miles down the road and Skanks AAA affiliate only 2.5 hrs down I-81. Could it be that simple?

Has anybody else noticed how good the bullpen has been lately?

  10. Irish Mike Says:

Well that’s a bit of a game changer.

  11. Irish Mike Says:

Jake I was referring to Torres missing 1st base not your bullpen observation. And yues they have been good. Which can also be a game changer.

Just saw replay and don’t see how ump had any chance of knowing if his heel hit the bag or not. To make that call, I would expect the ump would have to be 100% sure and I don’t see how that’s possible on that play.

  13. Met_Maven Says:

It looked like he just barely touched it from every replay I saw. Total BS call, but if this is the “karma” for the “botched call” on Johans No-No I’ll take it.
