From Perfection to L
Last nite’s Chris Young outing was sort of a microcosm of the Met season. The first half was perfect. CY got everyone out in order and pre-All Star Break the Mets got everything breaking their way. Come from behind wins, No-han’s game, a WC chase.
But all of a sudden things fell apart. It happened slowly at first but before you knew it all was lost. CY lost his perfect game on a tough play not made by Tejada. To me that’s a hit. An argument can be made for a home scorer doing his part to keep a once in a lifetime performance intact but truth be told that was a hit all the way.
BMF predicted the second Met no-no would come “relatively quickly” but in Met terms that means just inside 20 years. Would’ve been great to get a perfecto from Young, but it wasn’t meant to be… Just like the 2012 Met season.

This team just sucks.

Glad I’m stuck in TX till Sept 7th, so I don’t have to witness the inevitable slide to the basement. I’m sorry, but this team didn’t change in complexion that radically from before the A.S. break to after so, from where I sit, they’ve just given up on themselves. Inexcusable…

Has TC lost this team? They look like they are ready to go home?

things are going from bsd to worser.
the Par-Troy NJ LL Team that was elimanated from the LL Championship on a walk off home run, shows more spirit then our late season lamers. i wonder what the results of a consolation game between Par-Troy and the Mets would be?

Great comparison BMF!
Sadly, the competitive portion of this season in the standings that matter is done. However, I don’t think this team has quit, they just aren’t good enough. It’s funny how not scoring makes a team look lifeless.

It was funny (sad funny) to hear Gary talking at the beginning of the 6th about how with TC ejected it would be interesting to see what happens if Young keeps it up and Dan Warthen has to decide how long he should let him pitch. Before he could really finish the thought there were hits, runs, errors - no need for anyone to worry about that decision.
The Rockies have 14 pitchers on their roster, none of whom can pitch as evidenced by their MLB worst ERA, yet the Mets can’t score a lick against them.
Matt Harvey starts are about the only interesting games left so tonight may be worth a peek. Last night I mostly watched Strasburg mow down the Braves on the MLB Network.

Can Harvey play CF on his non-pitching days?

Another great night at Citi. And i do blame Sandy and the entire organization. Other teams do it with out huge payrolls… This team is just pitiful.
August 23rd, 2012 at 12:18 am
Hey THIS TEAM SUCKS, did those “other teams without huge payrolls” suddenly have a whole bunch of great new players in 1-2 years or did it take a while for them to become good?
August 23rd, 2012 at 10:55 am
Jake, please stop trying to use logic here. The Rays were always a good team, the Nats were always a good team, the Reds were always a good team. They never had to wait to become good!

Met_Maven, good point. I sometimes forget it’s impossible to reason with people who are unreasonable.

Way to go bobby Parnell!!! Another bull pen debacle.

AAA players in the bigs equal DFL in division. This organization is so frustrating. Seriously.

McHugh was great. That’s all there was. Nothing else. Except TC’s blind adherence to the stupid “play for the tie” sac bunt in the ninth. Not that it would have mattered, but still a stupid play. With a lineup like this, Mets can’t afford to give up any outs in any situation.
FIRE WILLIE!!

From all accounts, s**tifield was virtually empty for the sweep. The only bright spot was Gabby Douglas throwing out the 1st pitch. Glad I’m not home to witness the carnage.

Unwatchable. Pen sucks, management sucks, bats suck. Are we the worst team in MLB? I think we are. Lord help me for raising my kid a Mets fan. Eh, she’ll always have Michigan football - GO BLUE!
