Quiet Ike Ready for Big Campaign

With all the attention on the Wilpon’s ponzi schemes, the health of Beltran, Reyes and Bay, and our new GM/skipper combo, Ike Davis is flying WAAAY under the radar.

Normally a first baseman playing in NY who clubbed 19 HR his rookie season would be squarely in the spotlight during his sophomore spring training.

But you barely hear ANYTHING about Ike these days which is probably the best possible scenario for the youngster.

Terry Collins has certainly taken notice though claiming Davis is going to be a ‘premier first baseman,’ with ‘enormous power,’ who can be a ‘legit clean-up hitter.’

Wow those are big words from the skipper but BMF has envisioned that future for Ike all winter.

Meanwhile let’s not forget Davis is already one of the best defensive first basemen in the game.

I’m looking foward to watching a number of individual player seasons unfold but probably none as much as Ike Davis.

Agreed! I am also hoping that Ike has a big year as well. He looks really relaxed and at ease in PSL this year. He should have made the team out of spring training last year.

I think it is a good thing that nobody is paying attention to him. Should be an interest year two for him

Second base looks like a horse race and I am going to say that the early line favorite is Brad Emaus. Murph still has to prove to me he can turn the DP with guys coming at him and ready to take him out.

Nice touch that “Hot Stove” is coming live from the left field “Tiki Bar”. Makes me feel right at home!

I guess we separate the men from the boys starting Sat. I can’t wait to…..PLAY BALL!

Are we actually talking about BASEBALL again??? Glory hallelujah!

I LIKE IKE. Can’t wait to see what he will do this year.

Ike (146) is twelve games behind Mo Vaughn (158) for games played at first base for the Mets!

If I’m not mistaken, Ed Kranepool and Dave Magadan are the only other two first basemen that the Mets have developed.

I can’t wait to see how he does in year two!

How about Butch Huskey, Jason Phillips, and Daniel Murphy (Not really started there) as first baseman the Mets have developed?
