Flat on Face
Damn, a sweep in ATL is the last way we wanted to kick off the second half.
This series was like the old days of the Braves kicking our asses while everything goes wrong for us. Bad calls, bad breaks on balls that should be caught, bad outings from our top starters all while the Braves streak to 7 straight wins, the best in baseball, led on Sunday by… Ben Sheets?!?
This feels like a terrible omen and our squad is suddenly looking awfully soft. Murphy continues to regress after his brief hot streak and while its unfair to point fingers at Duda b/c he’s nursing a hamstring injury but we need the kid to step up and show us what he’s got.
I’d love to see Lucas carry the team for at least a couple of games. Hell, I’ll take just 1 big game from him to get us going but I firmly believe he has the ability to put a team on his back and lead us from time to time.
I know he’s still growing into his shoes a bit but there’s NO REASON this kid doesn’t dominate at this level. He’s just gotta believe and up his swagger.

Up his swagger?

The mets surprised us in the first half with great starting pitching and a mvp like david wright. Take away those two elements and you have another turner field nightmare. Need to win this series
vs the nats in the worst way.

By all accounts, Duda has been a soft-spoken guy all his life who has a tendency to get down on himself. And his poor defensive play puts even more stress on his hitting. Swagger up? I think he needs to spend some more time shagging fly balls and relax at the plate. Swagger will come naturally enough when he cuts down his errors and produces at the plate.
Let’s take this series from the Nats.

Good to hear from ya, El Dude

Jason Bay in the lineup and batting 5th. Commence Howard’s griping!

Better get a win tonight. This season is sinking quickly.
We need a right handed bat so badly, I am willing to even give Bay another shot although I am not expecting a lot. But I guess anything is possible.
I do not feel good about this series… not at all.

Nice of Bay to return by hitting into 6-4-3 dp!

At least Niese had a great start!

OK, Parnell, lock down a HUGE win!

For f*ck sake, Tejada is playing right up the middle, why doesn’t he just move forward and watch the play instead if racing to the bag immediately? He’s easily going to beat the runner to the bag if LaRoche doesn’t make contact.

GREAT CURVEBALLS PARNELL!!!
July 17th, 2012 at 9:52 pm
That was a terrible pitch.
July 17th, 2012 at 10:01 pm
Terrible choice of pitch compounded by terrible location. Damn damn damn!

I’m “watching” this game on my laptop via ESPN’s lame “MLB Gamecast” and they’re about to throw me out the restaurant for animal-like sounds after Parnell & Byrdak’s performance. I’m going to be ill…

Completely demoralizing.

Un… phucking believable!

Benitez, Mota, Sousa, Heilman, Rodrigez and now add Mr. “I HAVE AND NEVER WILL BE CONFIDENT ENOUGH TO BE A CLOSER” Parnell to the list. FOR CHRIST SAKES SPEND SOME FREAKING MONEY ON SOME GUYS THAT THROW STRIKES AND GET OUTS AND ARE ANIMALS AND NOT AFRAID. I HATE LIKING THIS TEAM…i hate it.
July 17th, 2012 at 11:44 pm
