Philly Has Become the NL Yanks

So Brad Lidge said it’s “World Series or Bust” for the Phils this year.

The truth is he’s right. Philly has transformed from a loser franchise into dominant team. And the way they reload every winter, and at the deadline, makes them the NL version of the hated Yankees.

Granted the Yankees are in a class of gluttony all their own but at this point it’s win the WS or the season is a failure for the Phils just like the yanks.

That’s a lot of pressure and teams have been known to crack under that weight before.

As far as the Mets are concerned we’re not winning squat this year so let Philly talk. I’m certainly not rooting for Philly to win the East but if they don’t, and we don’t, who’s gonna win… Atlanta?

I’d almost rather Philly keeps winning than the friggin Braves rise again.

Yeah, Spring is for optimism. We need to talk about the Mets and any shred of hope that we can, somehow, become the SF Giants of 2011.
The Mets batting order is not really all that bad. It’s the pitching staff that will determine if we are formidable.

How in the name of Pumpsie Green can Boof Bonser not make the starting rotation for the Mets? They might not be good this year but I bet with ol’ Boof they put on a awesome version of Guys and Dolls…ah the optimism of spring…

Speaking from lower, slower Delaware, I can tell you Phillies’ fans were DEAD silent up until ‘07, and now have the same sense of entitlement as EE fans.

Where I work, if the Phillies lose, the place is a morgue. If they win, it’s nothing but running mouths, all shift long…until they lose again, at which point they jostle for position to see who gets to jump off the roof first.

It may be tough to be a Met fan right now, but we’ve got guys who not only can win, but want to win. With props to Original62Fan, I don’t know about us being the 2011 Giants, but I’ll take 85-90 wins this year and call it a heckuva good campaign after all the off-season s**t.

    Spring Training? Let’s Go Mets!!

Is it me or does it seem like its been years since the season ended? I don’t care how the Mets do this year, hopefully they can place 3rd, but really this season is considered by many to be a “rebuilding” year and not expect much. I think our guys will surprise us, in a good way. Remeber: YA GOTTA BELIEVE!

    2011 Giants….85-90 Wins….3rd place

What the hell are you guys on!!!!!! I need some!!

If the Phils are the NL Yanks!!….We are the NL Pirates!!

  9. Jeff Says:

FMFR: spring’s in the air, and I know you’re pumped up… I also know you know the Buccos and Mets are both in the NL. Ah, hell — I know what you meant.

Tho, c’mon: 85-90 wins is not beyond this team’s ability, and that’d certainly put them in 3rd, at the worst.
