Mets ERUPT in Tampa

Wow - didn’t see that coming. A good old fashioned 11-2 romp. Man, those games are fun!

The crazy thing is Tampa was ALL OVER Chris Young in the first and it looked like the Rays were about to blow US out.

Young hung in there to get the W but while he wasn’t dominant if you throw out the 1st inning he pitched great.

I like Ike’s strategy of dropping down a bunt to lead off the second. It worked since he not only got on base but later smoked a laser of a HR to right. Could this finally be the awakening we’ve all been waiting for?

Jordany Valdespin was 2-5 with 4 RBI and 2 Runs scored. He’s still only hitting .184 but I really like this kid.

Can someone please tell me why on earth ReoSpeedwagon is performing at CityField?

That’s the sort of post-game promotion you see at a Minor League park, or maybe Pittsburgh or Cleveland but not NYC. Are the Mets really so hard up to sell tickets they need to book Reo Speedwagon?

And the bigger question is will REO Speedwagon actually sell any tickets at all.

No idea if REO Speedwagon will sell tickets, but yes, the Mets need to do more stuff like that - they’re only averaging 26,572 people per game - not all that much better than Pittsburgh’s 23,062 per game.

Hey it’s a different era now and if teams want to squeeze out an extra buck with a Friday night summer concert who are we to complain? But don’t worry BMF in spite of your inability to roll with the changes I’m going to keep on lovin’ you ‘cause it’s the only thing I want to do.

I’ve made my point. Now I believe it’s time for me to fly…

Nice bunt strategy by Ike… was that his call? His dinger looked like the Ike of old, but I’m still not convinced.

Now Bay, talk about a buzz-kill. How the guy has not committed suicide yet is beyond me. Oh that’s right, what am I thinking? He’s got 17 million reasons not to…

Chris Young looks like James Taylor’s cousin. Now that’s a performer I’d go to Citifield to see.

IM, just saw a few mins of REO on DirecTV’s Audience series and song I heard was “Time for me to fly.” Maybe Ike sang that to the ball before his jack.

I just have a feeling that Bay is going to have a good game tonight at the plate. As unmerciful as I have been on him, I feel like he just missed a couple of pitches recently, flying out to the outfield. With a lefty on the mound, even one as good as Price, I just have a feeling Bay will perform tonight. And then go back in hole to hibernate for the rest of the season.

Why do you think they are averaging only 26.5K?

They have been playing decent ball and hanging in there.

The Mets have a lineup tonight that has the following batting averages hitting consecutively in the lineup: .179 - .185 - .174 - .132. If this were the NL the next guy up would throw in at .184. I’d love to know when the last time was a team started four non-pitchers hitting below .200

PS when they get back to the top of the luneup the leadoff hitter is hitting a blazing .209
