Can’t Take It

I swear there is nothing in sports that burns me up more than losing to the yankees… except for getting swept by the yankees.

And after 2 anemic offensive showings we’re well on our way to dropping 3 straight.

Suddenly we’re 3.5 games back — ugh bad feeling about where this team is headed… Real Bad feeling.

Why do they even bring Jason Bay back? He’s completely worthless. They should just let him rot on the DL and stay away from the club.

Remember when many of us thought J Bay would crush the Yankees for us just like he did for Boston?

That didn’t quite work out.

I can’t stand inter-league play! Baseball with the DH is not baseball……not even close! I hate the imbalanced schedule that inter-league play brings! I hate having to play the Yankees 6 times each year, But most of all I just hate the Yankees!

  2. FLorida Met Fan Rich Says:

“June Swoon” or just a losing streak? It seems like the Mets are starting to settle into the team that we thought they were.

Have played over their heads for the first 60 games. Can we just “Man Up” today and win one for the “Gipper”

  3. Dennis Green Says:

” They are who we thought they were!”

  4. Common Sense Says:

Please-can’t we just release Jason Bay and eat his contract? I’d rather bring back Luis Castillo than keep putting this bum out there-the wait is over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Ollie Twist Says:

Please, sir, Cahn’t we send Ike to Buffalo and move Duda to first!!!!!!!

  6. Irish Mike Says:

It certainly looks like the Mets are heading towards the .500 or worse mark that their negative run differential has always dictated that they belong. Just too many weaknesses - most notably the bullpen (Parnell gives up a homer to the first batter he faces? It’s like satire at this point) and the offense (sending up a .133 hitter to try and save the game last night?).

I always like Bay better when he is on the shelf - I guess I keep thinking that he’ll come back as at least a shadow of his former shelf. But now that he has unraised his pedestrian .240 average to a scorching .211 since his return I’m ready to join the pitchfork wielders except…who exactly are we replacing him with? Torres is hitting .209. And if we get rid of the even bigger offensive liability (hello Ike) by putting Duda at first than the options are even more limited. Hairston will be exposed if he plays every day. I’d take a flyer on Baxter but that’s a month away at least.

So we are stuck with a lineup with too many Mario Mendozas. We need a 2012 Mets version of “Spahn and Sain then pray for rain.” I’ll go with “Dickey, Santana then rain mañana.”

  7. BlondiesJake Says:

    How about:

Santana and Dickey and then it gets icky!

    Or

Johan and Eeyore too bad they don’t hit more!

Irregardless, it’s a flawed team missing big bats which would lighten the load and decrease the exposure of the inconsistent pen.

  8. the dude formerly known as bill l. Says:

Cheer up, guys. The sun is shining and the Mets be playing. To paraphrase John Lennon: “All we are saying, is Give Niese a Chance!”

  9. BlondiesJake Says:

So far, so good. Three runs off the bible thumper with some help from the lazy ass second sacker. And Niese just struck out the side in the 5th. Four more innings and we can feel much better about the weekend. Would be nice if they tacked on four more runs!

  10. BlondiesJake Says:

Wright’s error turned the whole game around. Damn I hate losing to those f**kers. f**k f**k f**k!

  11. joeybrooklyn1976 Says:

Another Yankee Stadium nightmare. I can
    t stand losing to them.

  12. Lord Charles Says:

    Ike!

  13. Florida Met Fan Rich Says:

Wow how do we not score the go ahead run in that inning?

If you are going to bunt, why not pinch run for Ike?

Then why just we don’t give up an HR the next inning?

  14. Lord Charles Says:

Wow, that sucks. As for this:

“it’s a flawed team missing big bats which would lighten the load and decrease the exposure of the inconsistent pen. ”

Agreed. And another way that showed up was with Wright’s error; if Ike is playing like we hoped this season, then he probably would have been playing today and would have been able to easily scoop the ball, which wasn’t thrown that badly.

  15. Howard Says:

Bay is not returning to his form. After 3 years of horrendous play, there is nothing more obvious. But the Mets will continue to play him.

Hey Mets management. It is either one of two things: (1) He has such severe mental issues playing for the Mets that he needs to be admitted into a mental institution (2) He is done.
The guy has been done since he got here. I cannot take this guy in the lineup anymore. Can the Mets organization finally accept this.. You threw $60 million out the window. Move on already. Eat part of his contract and trade him for another underforming guy who might add something to our team.

I cannot believe that the Met players arent disgusted seeing Bay in the lineup.

I guess the only question is if Bay can break Joe D’s 56 game record for NOT getting a hit.

  16. CowCrusher Says:

Time to triple my dose of anti-depressants….work is going to suck big time…because a Mets sweep of the Skanks @Shea 2.0 is not too likely.

  17. JoMama Says:

Bay is done, Torres is mediocre, Ike is lost and Valdy and Quantinilla (sp? I don’t care) are both terrible in the field. So much so it’s wearing off on Wright. Add a pen that can’t get 6 outs to save their life (pun intended) and you have a team on the brink of a downward spiral. Everyone Met fan I know has been waiting for the other shoe to drop knowing we’ve been playing above our heads. Can we start blaming TC for some of this though? Ike, Bay, the SAME bullpen rotation - come on, like I said earlier in the week, it can’t get worse - we have the WORST PEN IN BASEBALL - why not bring some young arms up? I turned the game off right after the Spanks tied it, can’t stand hearing those “fans.”

I HATE losing to the Yankees !!! Martin’s first home run was pathetic- that is a double anywhere else. I thought Ike was safe at third- oh well- Lets go MEts !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
