There’s an old Tommy Lasorda addage, that he probably learned from someone before him, that sez:
In baseball you’re going to lose 50 games no matter what you do and you’re gonna win 50 games no matter what you do. It’s the 62 remaining games that determines your season.
Wednesday’s afternoon tilt with the Braves fell into the category of games we’re destined to lose no matter lwhat.
Dickey’s knuckler actually looked great until the rain came and then it was duck for cover as we got routed 14-6. I guess knuckle balls don’t respond well to rain.
To their credit the Mets kept battling back inning after inning until the game was finally out of reach. These guys aren’t afraid to get in the box and take their cuts. I feel like some teams in recent years were so tight in the batter’s box they couldn’t just relax and play ball. The 2012 Mets are doing exactly that.
Too bad we dropped the last 2 games to even out the road trip at 3-3, but so long as you play .500 ball on road you can put together a solid season.
After back to back losses I’m happy for a day off before we face the Giants this weekend in Queens.
Good News: we’ll miss facing Matt Cain - Not so Bad News: We’ll face Tim Lincecum who has been AWFUL so far this season on Sun. The Freak is 0-2 with a 10.54 ERA
