R.A. Rocked in Rain

There’s an old Tommy Lasorda addage, that he probably learned from someone before him, that sez:

In baseball you’re going to lose 50 games no matter what you do and you’re gonna win 50 games no matter what you do. It’s the 62 remaining games that determines your season.

Wednesday’s afternoon tilt with the Braves fell into the category of games we’re destined to lose no matter lwhat.

Dickey’s knuckler actually looked great until the rain came and then it was duck for cover as we got routed 14-6. I guess knuckle balls don’t respond well to rain.

To their credit the Mets kept battling back inning after inning until the game was finally out of reach. These guys aren’t afraid to get in the box and take their cuts. I feel like some teams in recent years were so tight in the batter’s box they couldn’t just relax and play ball. The 2012 Mets are doing exactly that.

Too bad we dropped the last 2 games to even out the road trip at 3-3, but so long as you play .500 ball on road you can put together a solid season.

After back to back losses I’m happy for a day off before we face the Giants this weekend in Queens.

Good News: we’ll miss facing Matt Cain - Not so Bad News: We’ll face Tim Lincecum who has been AWFUL so far this season on Sun. The Freak is 0-2 with a 10.54 ERA

Well we have the Giants coming in and they can’t score alot of runs either so I hope that we can take a few of them.

Want to stp the bleed ing now before we get on a streak. I don’t like the idead that we got ‘Blown Out” two days in a row!

This is the first test of the year lets habg in there!

3-3 road trip including taking 2 of 3 from the Phillies? I’ll take that in a heartbeat. Yes, it ended on an ugly note, but that will happen. Let’s see how the rest of the rotation responds now.

Will the Mets be paying a tribute to Angel Pagan tonight?

I am wondering if I can get a bobblehead of him at tonightd game?

  4. Matt Says:

HAHAHA, no, I think the Mets are saving up for the Ty Wigginton bobblehead night when the Phils come to town.

If they had a tribute to every player who left the team and went on to make the all star team elsewhere, there wouldn’t be enough games in the season.

  5. Matt Says:

In all seriousness though, has anyone ever noticed that about 90% of the off days during the season are on Thursdays. I have never understood why they don’t do more off-days on Mondays.

Would fans be more likely to attend a Monday or Thursday night game? This seems like a no-brainer, yet they are always playing on Mondays, just like this weekends weird 4-game schedule.

FMFR: That’s a brilliant suggestion! If any player ever deserved a bobble-head doll it would have to be Angel Pagan. He made enough bobble-headed plays in his Mets career, for sure. A few more plays like Thole’s getting thrown out at first after a successful sacrifice against the Phils and we might be able to say we have another bobble-head on the team. To quote Blondie “as dumb as a box of Tholes!”
