Mets Rounding 3rd and into Shape

The NY Mets are fast approaching the official start of the 2012 season and are looking pretty damn healthy:

• Wright is back on the field and hitting

• Frank Francisco’s MRI was negative and FraFra should be ready to assume the closer role .

• Santana is fully healthy

• Ike has no fever

• Torres is playing again

• even Byrdak is back

Not to mention  pretty damn hot:

• Pelfrey just posed 2 dominant outings

• Duda is hitting

• Wright is hot

• Ike is hitting walkoff bombs

• Santana looks old skool Johan

• Parnell hasn’t allowed a run

• Thole is hitting

• Murphy’s still a hit machine

For the moment things are looking good…

And then there’s Jason Bay

    • Wright is back on the field and hitting…

    -Hi, I’m Wrights torn Ab…Tick…tock…tick…tock…tick…tock…

    • Frank Francisco’s MRI was negative and FraFra should be ready to assume the closer role .

-Until he fails as a closer again and I don’t care about the MRI, fluid on the knee is not a good thing.

    • Santana is fully healthy

-Santana has looked great, but lets wait until he doesn’t need shots to make starts and pitches a full season.

    • Ike has no fever

-The Valley fever issues was one of the stupidest stories all spring.

    • Torres is playing again

    -Tick…tick…tick…tick…

    • even Byrdak is back

-Not sure why he was rushed back so quickly…

Not to mention pretty damn hot:

    • Pelfrey just posed 2 dominant outings

    -facing very weak AAA lineups

    • Duda is hitting

    -Yes, yes he is…

    • Wright is hot

-6 games this spring with 4 hits in 16ABs still has me worried and I wouldn’t call that hot.

    • Ike is hitting walkoff bombs

    -Ike is the man

    • Santana looks old skool Johan

-Johan is the man, if anyone can come back from shoulder problems is the Johan.

    • Parnell hasn’t allowed a run

-Kofax and Izzy may have fixed Bobby!

    • Thole is hitting

-and looking better behind the plate.

    • Murphy’s still a hit machine

    Let’s just hope he’s not a error machine too…

How can you forget the good spring by Niese, Gee and RAD?

I hate Bay more and more as each year goes on. This guy is useless and should be playing AAA.

  3. Irish Mike Says:

Ike Davis is crushing it - just hit a huge blast. Don’t waste any more spring AB’s with him - take him out of the game and get him on a plane to New York.

IM: but don’t you realize that it’s cheaper if they take the red-eye flight?

  5. Irish Mike Says:

Per my question yesterday the Yankee announcers and then Francesa were saying that the Mets were not pleased that they “had to” travel across Florida today to play a spring game then travel to New York to play a real game at 1:00 tomorrow in a stadium that has been totally reconfigured. It still makes no sense to me. Who “made” them play today? MLB? Ownership? Inquiring minds want to know.

  6. the dude formerly known as bill l. Says:

IM: yes, it’s completely ridiculous. There were many pre-season games today, but they all seem to be at/near home. D’Backs at Chase field, Astros at minute maid, dodgers at dodger stadium, etc. So, it seems more than a fair question: the first time the ballplayers will get a look at their newly redesigned field is during batting/fielding practice on Opening day. Assinine.

  7. Florida Met Fan Rich Says:

Well if you want the Yankees to come to PSL to play of course the Yankees are going to make you come play at their park.

They should have scheduled Yankee game on the day off earlier in spring training.

It certainly puts them at a disadvantage tomorrow.
