A Good Ass Kicking?

You never really want to see a kid you hope will become a future Ace get shellacked like Matt Harvey did yesterday but BMF is gonna look at the bright side.

An embarrassing outing every now and again can keep you humble. And while an ace needs confidence some lessons in humility on the way up can be very beneficial in the long run.

There is no way Sunday’s line of 7H, 5R, 0BB, 1K in 1 IP is an accurate gauge on who Matt Harvey is. The kid was obviously over hyped to show what he’s got going against Strasberg.

Meanwhile Lucas Duda and Ike Davis just may be the next. cornerstones of the Mets. 2 young sluggers that can pound teams into submission.

I’m more excited to watch these guys get after it in Flushing than any other aspect of the team.

I’m also getting bored with Spring Training…

Ready for real baseball…

An outing like that should put to rest all the talk that Harvey is going to be a save-the-franchise ace like Doc Gooden or Lincecum.

His more likely ceiling is the Ron Darling, Jon Niese level, which is not a bad thing at all. I’d take that career output in a second.

Mets fans should be wiser than hyping 20 year old pitchers after witnessing the Izzy/Pulsipher/Wilson triple-flameouts firsthand.

When the player does it at the big league level, then I’ll get excited. Until then it’s just team-manufactured BS hype to sell tickets and generate interest when there is no reason for it (see 2012-13-14 Mets).

Talk about a beating! The Nats were tied with us for the worst rcord in ST for the season, and had lost 10 games in a row. I guess they just got tired of losing!

Would like to at least see the Mets win more than they lose for the next 10 games.

David Wright is starting today for the first time this season and Santanna is going to try to th\row 90-95 pitches!

Things should hopefully start to pick up for the Mets now. They should be tired of seeing all these teams beating them also!

I’m sure the players are so sick of Spring training right now .. I know I am ..

Santana, who struggled today, still has to be (in this pessimistic Met fans’ opinion) the best news of the spring so far …. sure he’s not throwing in the 90’s mph but w/that change up who cares? .. I can see a 12-14 or 14-12 type season and that would be amazing ..

Again, most (sane) Met fans know everything has to go perfect for us to play “meaningful” (a Wilponism) games in September for this current club .. but we’d love to see some growth and hope right? .. Like Duda hitting 30 HR’s .. or Tejada grabbing the SS job for the next 10 years .. or Niese putting a full season together…thats what I’m looking for..

    am I asking too much?
