Another Reason to Root for the Cards
In addition to rooting along party lines and backing the NL Cards the thought occurred to me Sun Nite while checking in on the WS.
If the Rangers lose they’ll likely be more hungry/aggressive to sign/retain big ticket free agents thus giving the evil Yankees.
In addition they will have a better chance to stay highly motivated to compete and beat the Yankees in 2012.
Yes these are the thoughts of a bitter Met fan…

There are no reasons to root for the Cards, BMF.
LaRussa is a total douche.

Considering the day, I just have to repost this classic bit of Mets history, video game style.

BB,
Couldn’t agree more. Why would anyone who is not a fan of either team be rooting for the Cards? I love rooting against d-bags…….and let’s face it there is no bigger one in baseball than LaRussa!!

Hate the Cards…I Like the Rangers, mostly because of Ryan.
No talk about the changes already being made to Sh!t!F!eld?
It appears that they are make more changes than I expected. They apparently are bringing in the LF fence and adding some seats.
Anyone interested in signing Lidge for closer?

To be honest, I really like the way the Rangers manage the team. They throw out some of the annoying rules that baseball has adopted. (I heard they don’t care about pitch counts, just when the pitcher gets tired). Nolan Ryan is a former (short term) Met.
And I’m still very bitter about 2006. I’m not over it yet so I’m rooting for Texas.

Hate LaRussa/Hate McGuire/Hate Moilna/Not fond of Pujols-no way I’m rooting for St Louis-loved Nolan Ryan-class act-worst trade Mets ever made-hope the Rangers finish this-then let the rebuilding of the Mets begin!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought the Kazmir trade was the worst ever.
October 25th, 2011 at 12:05 pm
I also can’t root for the Cardinals, despite being friends now with Jeff Suppan (he lives near me and opened up a sports bar and is a really nice guy) because LaRussa is such an a$$hat. I confess to be worried for the safety of Yahoo! Sports writer Jeff Passan after he dared cross the Cult of LaRussa with this column… http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=jp-passan_world_series_game_five_la_russa_102411
the kettle, you’re not serious about Lidge, are you?
USMF, you’re not serious about the Kazmir deal being worse than the Ryan deal, are you?
LET’S GO RANGERS!
EFF LaRUSSA AND THE CULT OF LaRUSSA!
WHO CARES ABOUT THE FENCES AT SHEA 2, THE METS STILL NEED PITCHERS!
October 25th, 2011 at 12:17 pm
Boy was Tony LaRussa asleep at the wheel last night! (Yes..Pun Intended).
He looked like a big dope, who didn’t even know who he had warming up in the bullpen!
They must have one upped the Red Sox and had an open bar in the dugout last night!

No, I think trading Wally Whitehurst was the worse deal ever!
No really, obviously trading Ryan and Seaver are two of the worst…both before my time, but I always thought that Ryan was too erratic with the Mets to be considered worth while.
In my lifetime, the Dykstra deal I thought was bad, but nothing compares to trading Cone for Jeff Kent and Ryan Thompson! Thompson became the greatest minor league player ever and we didn’t know what we had in Kent and flipped him for a bigger bust in Carlos Baerga!

Kettle - anyone as in anyone on this blog or anyone in general?
Seems like Lidge is on the DL more than Pagan & Reyes…combined.

It wasn’t a trade but we’re paying Bobby Bonilla millions until 2035. That’s pretty awful.
October 26th, 2011 at 9:47 am
Patrick, I hate that we are paying Bonilla, but mostly because Bonilla is on my “most hated Mets players” list.
But sadly, the deferred payment plan actually works out in the Mets favor. The way the economy worked out and the huge drop on the value of the dollar, assuming that the Mets properly invested the money. Which doesn’t look like they did…

Worse than Amos Otis for Joe Foy? anyway I remember the ‘69 pennant clinching post game which is seldom shown and Lindsey Nelson is interviewing rookies Amos Otis and Jim Bibby and after the interview a little guy walks up behind them and says, “Hey fellas don’t get those uniforms dirty”.

Interesting tidbits, I have nothing against LaRussa but can’t stand anything Texas. The two worst states in the nation are Texas and Ohio, hands down. I know BJ would agree with the latter. GO NL!
October 26th, 2011 at 10:20 pm
Jomama, you are correct, sir. Not a fan of the state of Ohio. But lived in Texas and have friends there and liked it better than California, where I’m living now.
October 27th, 2011 at 1:01 am
St. Louis has won a lot. Rangers have won nothing. Gotta pull for the underdog. They were there last year and made it back, tough to do this day and age. Gotta give them props. Go Rangers!
October 27th, 2011 at 12:23 pm
TX > CA? Surely you jest. Unless, of course, you live in SoCal - that place blows. SF is one of the greatest cities in the world. TX should do the entire nation a favor and just become North Mexico.
October 27th, 2011 at 7:53 pm
Jomama, I do live in SoCal, and it’s awful. The people are fake, the economy is based on the make-believe entertainment world, the government spends millions on championship parades when it can’t pay bills, major freeways are shut down so the Jackson family can get to Michael’s funeral, etc. It’s just terrible. If it weren’t for the great weather, I would completely lose my mind.
October 27th, 2011 at 7:53 pm
P.S. I love SF and also SD. But LA is just awful.
