Arch Enemies Dropping Like Flies

The last 2 days were sorta like the anthesis of the Yanks and Phils meeting in the WS. On consecutive days us bitter Met fans were able to enjoy both of our most hates rivals die a depressing game 5 first round loss.

First the yanks go down with A-Rod striking out and then Philly is eliminated with Ryan Howard at the dish.

The Howard AB was one of the most bizarre I’ve ever seen with the Cardinals celebrating a trip to the NLCS with Howard crumpled to the ground with a ruptured achilles.

I feel bad for Howard, who now won’t be ready by spring training, but can’t say I feel one ounce of compassion for Rollins and the rest of the crew.

I’ve certainly enjoyed them both being KOd. Unfortunately, the Howard injury means the Phils will probably get into and win the Prince Fielder sweepstakes, improving them at 1B offensively and defensively. SIGH!

Wow….You mean I finally get to root FOR a team as opposed to rooting AGAINST one!!!!

Lets Go Beer Makers and Bengals!…Just dosen’t have the same ribg as ….LETS GO METS!

Yes poor Howard but still, it was oh soooo sweet.
For me the only thing sweeter would have been big papi doing a pirouette for the last out of their season.

I’m actually looking forward to Mil-StL and some good baseball (altho I don’t like “Fielder” at all).

So can we get Endy back now?? It would be like TC getting back his long-lost son.
    Please?
Come on, I begged for Pence…..

I’d be thrilled if Endy took over for Angel “Dumb as a Box of” Pagans in CF and the leadoff spot (should Reyes leave).

endy is strictly a part-timer. He’s back off major surgery and hasn’t logged 300 ab’s in a season since 2006.

As much as I dislike the Phils, I don’t want to see anyone injured like that. Besides, Howard is a good player and a decent person, I don’t think I’ve ever heard him badmouth the Mets. Also, I don’t think the Phils will pursue Prince. He’s going to command a huge contract and what are the Phills going to do with Howard once he comes back? He’s signed thru 2016 at $25 mil per year. They’ll probably go after a mid card free agent at best.

Met_Maven: agree about the injury. Let’s hope Howard makes a full recovery. I’m sure the Phillies will wait for him to heal, and not go out seeking help at a position which is already a strength for them. Doesn’t make sense, as you point out.

Howard is a large dude…large dudes and foot, ankle, any kind of lower body injury don’t go well together. See Ike Davis for Exhibit A. Howard could be out for an extended period and miss considerable time. As much as I hate the damn Filthies, I hate seeing anyone get an injury like that. Besides, not like its going to help us ‘catch’ them in any way.

I do enjoy seeing them and the Skanks eliminated though. Gotta love it!!

Seeing that both the phithies and the skanks have been eliminated, it might be a sign to go out a buy a few Lotto tickets. :)

    Go Brewers!
