Phils Clinch East
BMF’s elation upon hearing Cliff Lee snubbed the Yankees was short lived since the very next bit of news was a deal with the Phriggin Phillies.
That pretty much sews up the division. I mean who is gonna beat a rotation of Halladay, Lee, Hamels & Oswalt? It doesn’t even matter who the 5th starter is, this is hands down the best rotation in the game.
In fact this may be the best rotation in the history of the game. Seriously.
The great Baltimore rotations of the late 60’s - 70’s were before my time but I’d say this Phils staff has the Braves Maddux, Smoltz, Glavine era rotations beat. Who was the Braves number four anyway? Avery?
Gotta hand it to Philly - they layed low and sprung into action to land their man before anyone even knew what was happening.
I think this may be one of the greatest free agent blindsides in the annals of the game.

One of the best BMF headlines ever. I’m already looking forward to the 2012 season. 2011 is finished in December 2010. Thank god for fantasy baseball.

It’s the cat’s fault…

This is just nuts! I don’t understand how the Phils run their system. They trade for him, then give him away, then sign him a year later. Unless the Phils are gonna go into Spanks territory with payroll, I’m not sure how this is gonna work long term. But reality is, this rotation will be completely nasty the next two years.
I’m not too worried…The Mets are probably a .500 team at best next year and are waiting for 2012 to make any real improvements to the roster. Also, for some reason, deals like this don’t seem to work out.
My concern is the pitching FA market is pretty weak…it’s Mark Buehrle and not too much else. You know the spanks are going hard after Buehrle. Sandy’s gonna have to look into trading some young talent to really make any significant improvements to the rotation.

Sandy is a genius!…We had already forfeited the 2011 anyway so now we can just sit back and relax!
At least the games with the Phillies will have some people in the ballpark at Shea 2.
Wow I have never seen a Division clinched in December!
Can I get a refund on my Spring Training season Tickets please?

The Philthies…..The “other” Evil Empire!!!

If Lee is your number 2 Hamels is your 3,and Oswalt is your number 4, that’s pretty unbeatable. Oh yeah, they still have an offense that mashes the ball. And they’ve already won the last four division titles a World Series and a pennant so there is no question if they can do it. They have done it.
Maybe one day the Mets will be able to scrape out a wild card berth. This is awful.

Maybe the Phillies were feeling the pressure from all the blockbuster moves we made during the winter meetings!

Gotta tip the cap to the Phillies management. Every year they make moves to improve their team, especially their pitching staff. Halladay, Oswalt and now Lee were all added to a staff that sucked. The Mets, on the other hand, never mind, I’m going to throw up now.

Werth for Lee. I could be OK with that.

The fun never ends!

Being the Phillies catcher is now the best job in te world!

At this point, if I’m Sandy I focus every minute and dollar on developing young talent.

Hey BMF,
Off topic here but when I used my new Mac, I got warning about malware for this site…I know you said it was all taken care of but just giving you all a heads up if it’s otherwise.
