Dickey Great in Loss

After 1 inning of play it looked like it we were in for one of those “knuckler wasn’t knuckling” nights¬†that can befall these trick pitchers.

But RA recovered from Werth’s 3 run blast to dominate the rest of the way - 3R, 6H, 2BB, 1K in 6IP Every time I think Dickey’s slipping he rebounds immediately.

If the Cuban defector Maya hadn’t completely silenced the Met bats we could’ve won that game.¬†

Oh well you can’t sweep every series.

Meanwhile I’m sorta surprised Alderson isn’t trading any relievers such as Izzy or even a Starter like Capuano who I’d think would command some interest.

But I admire his intention to keep this team together so we can finish a respectable season.

BMF, yesterday the Mets were riding a five-game win streak and all you did was talk about the phillies. Today, after Dickey gave up a 3-run bomb in the first but then settled down, you say he was great? Seriously, bring in a relief pitcher, you’ve obviously got nothing left in the tank.

Today’s game to me is a must win. We cannot lose the momentum we have built up and possibly go 8 out in the loss column. Of course the best scenario is a Mets win and Braves lost which will put us in nice position, 6 out in the loss column with our own shot to bring down the Braves this week at home. Not only to we have the Braves at home on August 4,5, and 6th but our next series against the Braves is also at home on August 26, 27, and 28th.

I think when we are teetering on 6 out or 7 out, every loss seems like the end of the season. But August will be the month to put us in the position for the final drive in September. If we can get within 3 games or less of the WC leader by the end of August, we will have a great shot.

Lets see now who comes up big for us in August as we now try to get in position for the final September drive to make the playoffs.

    Lets Go Mets!

A respetcable season is making the playoffs!….There is no in between…If the front office does not think we can get the widlcard we should be trading more

Then the business side kicks in and says we need “Butts in Seats”

FMFR, that makes no sense. If the team doesn’t have the talent to make the playoffs but plays hard, is fun to watch, gets better now and for the future, that’s a respectable season.

If the front office gets offered deals that will continue to improve the team, they will do it. They shouldn’t just give guys away. Izzy and Capuano will have value for next year as well so if they can’t get what they want, no need to do anything but sit tight and let them play. And don’t forget, guys like that can get thru waivers for a deal if need be.

Back up the Truck !!! Dump them! all !! Capuano? Paulino? Izzy? these guys will not be part of the future … Jake might be right ..these are the kind of guys that get thru waivers but why wait? DUMP !!!! who cares if we see tumbleweeds in Citifield in Aug and Sept? this is where Alderson and his scouts (remember Omar and Duquette?) earn their money … you have to find the right prospects…

^Matt the Met Fan- I agree totally…why prolong the agony!…KEEP TRADING!!!!who cares if we see

“Who cares if we see tumbleweeds in Citifield in Aug and Sept?”……I think the management does

MtMF, as I just said, they shouldn’t just give away guys who have value just because you don’t have any patience. That’s what the previous regime and other stupid organizations do. A smart one doesn’t do that, so even if they end up getting nothing for some of these guys, other teams know in the future they can’t just wait and then get guys on the cheap. They will know if they want a guy they need to come to the table with a real offer or risk not getting a player. This team needs to stay with long-term solutions, not short-term moves to appease fans.
