I stopped paying attention after mini Pelf gave up back to back hits to Schneider and Kendrick….ex-Met Brian Schneider who’s hitting .161 and Kendrick the Pitcher (just his 2nd hit of the season), Geez.
Bay is reverting to his old self…two rally killing grounders to short with RISP. Why doesn’t TC just leave him 7th or maybe even 8th in the lineup??
Flipping back from the women’s soccer I saw Bay up with his shades on. OMG I thought it was so funny.
We had the church giggles about “maybe nobody will recognize him” etc. etc.
You had to be there.
I believe Peuf is better than this, you have to wonder what’s going on. All the head case talk is just too easy.
I dunno, Professor…but when guys batting .161 are ripping line drives off you, not a good sign.
I’ve never been able to figure Pelf out, he has all the physical tangibles you’d want in a Pitcher, he’s just not that effective at getting guys out. For a big strong RH who can top out at 92-94, he pitches to way too much contact & seems to labor thru the 7-8-9 guys in the lineup way too much…
You’re right Brooklyn, never a good sign. But we’ve all been seeing this for a while, what’s Warthen’s plan here?
I never mind a contact pitcher as long as they are grounders or popups, it keeps the pitch count down and the defense doesn’t fall asleep.
The D may be a contributing factor, not trusting them as much as the D he had 2 years ago? I’m not making excuses for him he’s a big boy, just trying to understand. I know poor D screws up a pitcher’s head and tends to make him to “careful” which as we all know usually has the opposite effect.
I know the Daily News had his average velocity at the top of our current rotation a week or so ago.
Just goes to show you … location location location.
Lots of guys can throw hard. Very few can pitch. Pelfrey can throw hard but doesn’t seem to be able to pitch, especially when faced with adversity. To sorta quote Bull Durham, “He may a million dollar arm, but I have an idea about that five-cent head of his.”

Three innings, three hits, one walk, one earned run isn’t bad. But 47 pitches already Pelfrey? Sheesh!

I’m guessing opponents’ nickname for him is Big Inning since he always seems to have one against any decent hitting opponent.
