Very Nice Win in LA

I certainly don’t want to be without Reyes for any length of time but I’m confident Angel Pagan can handle the leadoff spot.¬†

It took Pagan until the 6th inning but he kicked into Leadoff gear by doubling twice, driving in a run and being in the middle of both Met rallies.

I’m still holding my breath about Jose but I’m starting to feel comfortable that he’s gonna be OK. Of course real Met fans know the moment you start to believe in the organization is generally when things Horribly wrong.

Shout to Capuano who bounced back from last week’s performance to beat the Dodgers allowing 2R, 6H, 2BB, 5K in 6IP. Cappy got through every jam by not allowing the Dodgers to break it open.

Reality check:

• We could have easily been swept in subway series

• The Dodgers are a pretty crappy team

So despite the 2 straight wins I’m not really entertaining serious playoff thoughts.

I’m just sayin’

Meanwhile how bout ESPN choosing the crappy Dodgers vs Angels for Sun nite Game - how far the Subway Series has fallen considering we didn’t get a Sun nite game in either weekend series.¬†

Gotta be the only time that’s ever happened¬†

Just shows how HUGE the win on Sunday was. If we loss that game, I am not sure we get the comeback victory on Monday.

We just have to keep on winning. The Braves are not that good and will lose some games.

Lets win tonight and start thinking sweep against the Dodgers.

Lovng TC leaving the book on the bench and letting a flamethrowing Parnell pitch the 7th and 8th.

BMF I suspect that the Mets were not permitted to play on Sunday night - there are rules about how late a game can start for a team that is traveling and playing the next day. I’d bet that a team traveling all the way to the west coast with a game scheduled for the next day cannot play an 8:15 game.

Good win last night- nice win on Sunday afternoon against the HATED Yankees- I have to admit they have a awesome lineup. Lets get another W tonight against the Dodgers. Rest Reyes for another game.Lets go Mets !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. USMF Says:

Yeah, because the Mets had to travel to the WC with no off day they couldn’t play the Sunday night game.

IL play has lost it’s luster, but ESPN would grad the whole NY market for a game if they had the option.

But because IL has lost its luster, I like (have been asking it for years now) the idea of balancing out the leagues/divisions. Hopefully this should balance out the schedules. I like the Subway games, but it’s unfair that the Mets have to play the Spanks six times a year while the rest of the division gets a weaker schedule. It’s not just the Mests, every year there are a ton of unbalanced schedules.

I think the idea of inter-league can survive playing some games all yearlong and not two weeks of all out IL play.

Nice game last night, nice to see the bats come alive after being completely shutdown for half the game.

For all the problem the Mets owners have, at least we are not the Dodgers.

USMF - agree on your take on interleague. I could live without any of it. I loved that TC, while acknowledging the allure of Mets-Yanks, pointed out very aggressively how unfair it is that the Mets have to play the Yanks six times each year. I don’t understand why previous managers were reluctant to point out the obvious. Actually I probably do - Willie didn’t care because he could hang out with “his” team and Jerry didn’t even realize how unfair it was.

Among the enjoyable things from recent games, how about Duda having good ABs, going the other way, etc. It may be not be showing up in his batting average yet, but I think he’s developing a plan at the plate and might be a real hitter. We all know the power is there so if he consistently works to see pitches he can handle and make solid contact, the home runs will follow naturally.

Howard, what did you think of Bay on Sunday?

JoMama, let’s talk about clutch hits.

  7. Howard Says:

Whats up BlondiesJake… I liked Bay on Sunday. Trust me, I am a huge Mets fan and would love to see Bay turn it around. I went to Opening Day last year to see his first at bat as a Met. But the truth is that up to this point, he has been a huge disappointment. I hope he can give us a good second half of the season and combined with Wright coming back, we can catch the Braves.

Bay seems like a good guy. He needs to be part of the answer of catching the Braves.

  8. JoMama Says:

Jake: I’m happy for Bay and am happy to see his swing come around. I’ve said it before, I don’t want to see him fail, quite the contrary - let’s see if he can keep this up.

As for Reyes - I swear to God, I don’t want anyone from this crack staff “assessing” him. They could take this mild strain and turn it into a season ending injury. Color me worried…

I think I speak for all of us when I say I want Reyes getting a second opinion from somebody other than the Mets medical staff. And frankly, I think he should go on the DL even if it’s not serious just because he won’t miss many more games when they backdate it thanks to the All-Star break and it’s better to be safe than sorry.

  10. KMac Says:

Put Jose on the DL so he Ike and David can get to know each other again in rehab. I’m sure they miss each other.

  11. A Phanatic Says:

My medical opinion is that i stole Reyes’ nose.
