The Mets have the pitching edge with Niese v Nova, Gee v Colon and Dickey v Garcia.

If the lineup keeps working counts, if nothing else they’ll get into the bad yankees bullpen.

Considering how this team started the year and the injuries that have happened, I’m amazing myself when I say I’ll be disappointed if the Mets don’t take at least 2 of 3.

    “Where’s the purse?”

(at aroid running to 2nd, for not taking out Tejada on the tag him out/throw him out DP)
Love it, especially because it actually hurts my eyes looking at arod.

I’m sitting at the bar in Soup’s Grill (Jeff Suppan’s sports bar) in Woodland Hills, CA and the couple next to me is a pair of yankees fans. Thankfully, they aren’t jerks (and yes, it is possible).

BJ - how many drinks have they had? takes the edge off.

  5. BrooklynBill Says:

We need to put some runs now. Nova got nuthin, we are making him look too good…

  6. ProfessorReyes Says:

Reyes now has 71 PAs without a strikeout.

That might be the most impressive thing to me amongst all the other super-stats.

  7. ProfessorReyes Says:

Geez Keith, so sorry that Posada didn’t do it for you!

Nobody’s asking you to be a homer, but do you have to go Waldman on us????

  8. BrooklynBill Says:

Jose Reyes = really fast bonehead

Geez, know the situation for crying out loud…

  9. BlondiesJake Says:

    What happened with Reyes?
    Why did Collins get ejected?
Had to leave the bar and missed the bottom of the 7th.

  10. IrishMike Says:

Reyes made a smart play in tagging from 1st on a deepish fly ball. Followed by a stupid attempt to go to 3rd when the throw to 2nd got away. He was called out although on super duper fluper slo mo replay it looks like the tag may have missed him by 1/10th of an inch. Collins got the boot for arguing.

I’m, thanks for the info. From what I saw and now what you said. they are playing like the Mets of the past couple of years tonight and that’s not a compliment.

  12. BlondiesJake Says:

Yup, that game was a classic crappy Mets game. It had all the ugly elements including:

    Poor pitching to start
    Failure to get clutch hits
    Questionable fielding
    Boneheaded baserunning
Bullpen giving up tack on runs

  13. CowCrusher Says:

Dang!…now I have to cook for thi yankee fan woman I met…..good thing she is kind of hot..or I would not be a happy camper;-)
C’mon Dillon…..let’s go for 1 win on National TV tomorrow.

Just watched the hilites…Reyes was safe, A-Rod never tags him. I love the fact umpire Jerry Layne insists he got the call right when video replay shows he didn’t.

It was brutal to be a Met fan at City today. The first inning was what killed us, a couple of bad pitches put us in an early hole we couldn’t recover from. I disagree with those who said Reyes going for 3rd was a bonehead play. he’s aggressive and knows when he can get a base or not. There were a lot of bad calls for both teams, but, as usual, the Mets got the short end of the stick. Reyes was safe, I even herd some yankee fans admit it. Layne should man up and say he blew the call. Hopefully we can take 2 of 3.

  16. BlondiesJake Says:

Met_Maven, they were down 3-1 at the time and he had already put himself in scoring position with only one out. While he may have been safe, was the gamble really worth taking with Beltran, Murphy and Pagan to follow?
