FGMF, check out Pelfrey’s home/road splits. Essentially, he’s very good at home and useless on the road. Thankfully he’s facing Verlander today so they would probably lose anyway. I say keep Pelfrey out there for a while and don’t burn the bullpen.
Well I don’t think we should give up when we are capable of hitting 14+ runs a game. In fact, I don’t think we should ever give up! Unless we are down 14 runs in the 9th.
Pelf has to learn to pitch everywhere. I’m so sick of his mental problems. We should get t-shirts that say “Go Big Belf” since he has so many bats in his belfrey.
Good news - The Mets have more hits (6) thru 5 innings than Verlander’s last four opponents had for the entire game.
Bad news - The hits have resulted in only one run. Good news - Verlander has now thrown 98 pitches so maybe he only has one more inning in him, which means the Mets might be able to come back against the Tigers bullpen.
Bad news - Pelfrey hasn’t been good and the bullpen is going to have to pitch at least 4 innings if the team is going to win.

To remind us they are still the Mets, Duda gets thrown out at the plate with one out on a fly ball when the team is down 5-1. Now that’s smart baserunning!
Oh well…as Jim Steinman wrote; 2 out of 3 ain’t bad….let’s get. Rollin’ and beat the you know who’s this weekend…and most of all my condolences to Willie and his family.
What was the line on Bay today? I think he had 2 hits - MEANINGLESS HITS - again, when we need him he sucks. The guys not clutch, he plain sucks and I’d still rather have one of the younger guys in there getting some valuable playing time. Ring me next time he gets a hit or RBI when the game is on the line.
Stupidity is touting a guy hitting a measly .240 going 2-4 with weak singles that didn’t produce anything (you realize he’s not paid to hit singles, right?). The fact that you’re defending his great day is asinine. 2-4 for a top-of-the-order guy is a good day, but for a power hitter to go 2-4 with no RBI’s in a loss is weak. Don’t get me wrong, hits are hits and that’s good but for what Bay’s been doing, I’d rather him go 1-5 but have that one hit be a run scoring double, late in the game that propels us to victory. He can hit singles all day long, if it doesn’t result it runs, he still sucks IMO.

What is up with the mics in the booth?

They say that great players make the game look easy.
Jose Reyes is making the game look almost pointless..

Thank God Pelf got out of that inning.
My thoughts and prayers are with Willie Harris and his family. No one should have to suffer the loss of a child.

Sorry to hear about Willie Harris and his family. Take Care. GOD Bless !!

Just heard about Willie. that’s horrible, I can’t imagine what he and his wife are going through.
I can’t see how he’s supposed to come back to the game after seven days.

Ugg,,,good thing we got our “ace” pitching today.
If there’s any guy we should trade, it’s the “Big Disappointment”…especially seeing that Scott Boras is his agent.
Maybe we should change his name from “Big Pelf” to “Big Buzz Kill”

Dude you have GOT to be kidding? You are right? Bay went 2-4. In other words he batted .500 for the game. That is not acceptable to you?

Does anyone have an extra spare of cajoles to lend to Pelphrey?
June 30th, 2011 at 6:51 pm
Howard, do you not know it’s spelled Pelfrey or is your spelling some sort of joke we don’t know about?
IrishMike, don’t waste your time responding to stupidity. And yes, I plan to follow my own advice.
