Braves Deliver Kick to Groin - Again
I suppose it was too much to ask for, a sweep in the House of Horrors. We were soooo close….
A triumphant sweep was within reach, up by a pair with K-Rod on the mound. But a 2 run shot was just the kick to the nuts needed to derail the Mets.
Sure enough the game ended an inning later on a Balk from Carrasco. What a preposterous way to lose a game.
But the good news is Bay rapped out 2 more hits.
In fact the bats were humming, including 3 more hits from Reyes.
RA was shaky, at best but if this is the wort start we get from him I can live with that deal.
Interesting that Pagan didn’t start. Hairston had a big game so it was the right call but I gotta wonder if this wasn’t punishment for not sliding 2 notes ago?
Now on to Anaheim to face the Halos, sans Scott Kazmir who was just released. And no I don’t “want” him per say but I’d definitely take a shot on him for a minor league deal.
Right? Wouldn’t you?

Holy cow. My son’s hs season ended on an IDENTICAL balk. Winning, closer comes in, man 1st & 3rd, the hanging arm, the stutter for a 2nd look, aaauuugh. The very, VERY stoic coach jumped up off the ball bucket and yelled “Ah NO!! Don’t end it like that!!” For half a second last night I thought I was dreaming some combo baseball nightmare.
Maybe TC thought the same.
I appreciate the positives, BMF. And Krod remembered his anger management….or maybe he’s just more aware that cameras were probably on his face. What’s with the super-prolonged close-up of KRod, btw?
I really want to beat up on the Angels and the A’s.

I say take a shot on Kazmir…I bet Warthen can fix him in 10 minutes…

K-Rod’s reaction was priceless - you can tell it really bothered him. But most of all, he handled it professionally, which was all we could ask. Hey if we can glean another positive - it was a game not finished by him (I know, I’m one of “those”). Considering this was his first blown save since April (2nd game of season), that’s not bad. I can’t complain. Fact is, the D-list team took two of three from the Braves, with ghosts of Larry Jones of the past coming to torture us every now and then. This loss didn’t bother me as much as I thought it should. Just looking forward to seeing our boys this weekend.

Let’s look at the bright side of last night:
Jose Reyes
Bay 2 hits
Come back to take lead from down 6-2
Jose Reyes
They didn’t let a no name rookie beat them
Hairston’s bomb
Jose Reyes
Took 2 of 3 on the road

Peterson could fix Kazmir in 5 minutes….
I agree though in looking at the positive this time.. It was a brutal lose but Bay is starting to hit, the pitching has been good and if things continue to improve, we will be 10 games over .500 before we know it.
Lets go 5-1 on homestand.
Let’s Go Mets!!!

I think Kasmir is definitely worth a look in our minor leagues.

A Balk?…Wow…Leave it to the Mets to invent ways to lose a baseball game!
Boy is that a tough loss to give up! We could have been 2 1/2 GB from wildcard!
We are home lets see if we can keep it going!
LETS GO METS!!!

I’m not going to say I didn’t want to throw up when K-Rod gave up the homer, or when we lost—ON A BALK—because I definitely did. But I don’t feel bad about the Mets, I just feel bad about K-Rod. Also the umpiring last night behind the plate was wack.
Last season I would have thought, “Great, this loss will take the wind out of their sails for 3 days.” But I feel like this team can bounce right back, no problem.
Re: Kasmir, he came up in the Beningo/Roberts interview with Sandy yesterday. And if you haven’t heard Fatcessa literally FAWNING over Reyes from yesterday, totally worth it. What a jackass!! But Reyes was terrific.

I think if Warthen just chants the name of “Scott Kazmir” three times, all will be well and all manner of things will be well. From “Sayonara to Cy Young.” No doubt about it.

…and remembers to click his heels, too.

Just say NO to Kazmir!
