Pelfrey Robbed of W

You couldn’t ask the Big Pelf to do much more than limiting the Bucs to 2R, 4H, 0BB, 6K in 7IP. Unfortunately a bogus interference call in the 1st, a solo shot by Wood, and poor base running by the Mets cost Pelfrey the win.

First off the interference call on Reyes was an awful call. Jose Tabata advanced from 1st to 3rd on a single only to be gunned down by Pagan. Until the second base ump decided to rule Reyes had interfered with Tabata rounding second and this awarded the Pirate 3rd base.

At first glance it looked as if there may have been interference but Tabata sort of stuttered or hesitated around the bag before deciding to try for 3rd. Once he rounded the bag Reyes did leap out of the way to make sure he wasn’t interfering but the call was made regardless.

Replays showed Tabata was unaffected by anything Reyes did which was further proved when Tabata got up and walked back to the dugout w/o a complaint.

Tabata eventually scored a run that should never have counted. But much credit to Pelfrey for not losing focus there and letting a big inning erupt.

I was impressed with Pelf all the way around last nite.

Duda went from minor hero to minor goat in the 8th when he singled to put runners at 1st and 3rd only to get doubled off when he thought a ball was trapped.

Without that mistake the Mets may very well have taken the lead and game away from Pitt in the 8th.

Back to 2 under and headed into ATL where we KNOW we’re gonna lose at least 2 of 3 like we always do.

Maybe the team was feeling like Kevin B: “I woke up this morning and realized I was still in Pittsburgh.”

God, the mental mistakes. Is there a Beano for brain farts?

I’m the biggest Mookie fan ever, but I gotta ask whether Mookie was yelling anything to Duda on that double up.

The obstruction call was horrible. The runner was looking at the ball and sort of stumbled as he round the base, but not because of Jose.

Great outing by Pelf. After a rocky start he was rock solid. That’s encouraging. The offense has got to get that win.

As cleon said “Resign Reyes !Resign Reyes ! Resign Reyes !Resign Reyes ! Resign Reyes !Resign Reyes ! Resign Reyes !Resign Reyes !!!!!!!!!!!:) “

It makes you wonder is the Umps had money on Pits…that’s two very strange calls at 2nd.

Bay being in the lineup is killing the Mets. And will they stop with freaking bringing in Acosta.

Lets get 2 out of 3 against the Braves.

    Let’s Go Mets!

  8. Florida Met Fan Rich Says:

Once again the Mets can not handle success, if you call.500 success!

Now the Marlins are as crappy as us and we are close to 3rd place!

Looks like we have alot to look forward to from July-Sept.

A 3 WAY BATTLE FOR LAST PLACE!!!

  9. Fort Greene Met Fan Says:

I’m just happy to have a loss that wasn’t caused by the collapse of our bullpen for the 843rd time. We just lost in a normal way! I forgot what that was like.

  10. KMac Says:

Scoring 1 run is not normal.

  11. CW Says:

Neither are base-running blunders, for every team not named The Mets.

And why is everyone calling for Reyes to resign? Did he pull a Weiner or something?
