Brandon Nimmo? Michael Fulmer? Picks Sound Good to Me

I’m certainly not going to sit here is Brooklyn and try and pass judgement on whether or not these are good draftees.

The truth is draft picks are exciting 99% of the time because of the potential they represent. Sadly a much smaller percentage will become big leaguers let alone impact players but we can always hope.

Nimmo (Nim-Oh) is exciting because he’s a departure from the conservative pick of a post college pitcher. Instead we got a left-handed hitting OF from a high school in Wyoming.

Word is he’s a gamble because he’s so untested
vs quality pitching but his upside is remarkably high.

The best indicator we as fans have to go on here is Sandy Alderson and his front office team. So if they love the kid enough to gamble a first round pick than I love him too.

I’m happy that Alderson is taking risks by selecting the best player he saw on the board.

Just don’t ask me to worry about these guys for a few years until they’re closer to being ready for the big leagues.

I was surprised the Mets with another OF instead of a pitcher, but it’s a pleasant surprise. Only time will tell if this move works out, but its nice to see Alderson go after the best person available.

I trust our front office. OMG, I trust our front office! When was the last time I felt that way??

Well after the fist pick the next four picks have been pitchers!

    And do we need PITCHING!

    LETS GO METS!

We take the picks we know we can sign .. HS kid over a stud like Ryan Anderson? - or a kid who has Boras as an agent ?

maybe we will go the way of the Rays - who let a talent like Crawford go for what? a draft pick .. this year they had 6 in the first 50 or something like that?
