GO Wally GO! BMF to White House
Apparently Backman really impressed with his second interview and is smack dab back in the managerial race.
Wally wowed em with his preparation and knowledge of stats. No one doubts Wally’s passion so i’m psyched to hear he’s getting traction in areas some likely assume are weaknesses.
All of a sudden this is becoming quite the exciting managerial hiring process, ain’t it?
Melvin, Collins and Backman seems to be neck and neck coming down the stretch with the up and comer Hale running 4th.
The way I see it Melvin leads by a nose, Collins is a strong second and Wally’s on the outside gaining with every step.
There’s a news conference Tues afternoon… Who’s it gonna be???
I can’t wait!!

Meanwhile BMF is getting the chance of a lifetime for a private tour of the White House fri eve.
This fell into my lap thanks to my mother who was a NYC elementary school teacher for 30+ years. Last month she got an email from an old student who said she was his favorite teacher and he never forgot her 5th grade class.
All these years later the student became a speech writer for President Obama and wanted to invite her and 5 guests for a private tour of the White House.
I don’t even know what that means, or what I’ll get to see but I had to give my social security number for a background check.
Was also told I’m allowed to take pictures in an outside room but not once the tour begins.
Crazy right?
And props to the met s
No disrespect but I’m gonna have a hard time getting excited about Bob Melvin.

BMF: A Behind the scenes tour. How great is that?? See how they make those square patties, observe the little spatula they use to flip them…. Oh, I’m sorry. I thought you said “White Castle.” Nevermind. Anyway, it sounds great. Enjoy.
Great to see Wally hanging in there. Maybe we’ll all be pleasantly surprised come Tuesday.

I heard that Daniel Murphy is playing second base and that MLB is thinking of adding more playoff teams. Hoping BMF will blog about them both soon.

Well hopefully Wally “Gator” Backman gets the gig. Good for you BMF….getting a behind the scenes tour of the Executive branch is a good start.
I was able to get a private tour of the “Thunderbirds” paint shop out near Las Vegas a few months before 9/11….nothing super “secret squirrel” about the joint but I am sure that is now verbotten for public.

as far as I’m concerned as long as bic Willie & jerry aren’t the manager come next week I’ll be happy with the newly appointed manager… until the season starts. odds are Alderson will pick someone who won’t make him look incompetent as a GM. But in all honesty, its not the manager I’m concerned about its the team and organization as a whole. We all know this is a rebuilding year. Anything over 70 wins will be amazing. The way I see it, we can’t really judge the team, manager or GM until midway 2012 if the Mets improve over the next season and a half, its been a success, if not, changes need to be made based on who isn’t/hasn’t performed. I have faith Alderson will pick the right man for the job and hopefully by no later than the all star game 2012 we can view ourbeloved Mets as contenders and praise Alderson the new manager and maybe even the Wilpons for making the right decisions.

Two year contract is not exactly a massive vote of confidence
November 21st, 2010 at 10:05 pm
not too many people are keen of the idea of a 2 year contract it doesn’t show confidence or he’s just a place holder yet if it was a 3 or 4 year contract people would say its too long and he needs to prove himself in NY. I think 2 years is perfect. If he doesn’t have the team turned around and showing some progress by then, we’d be demanding his firing anyway. If the team is fighting, winning and showing improvement it looks like a good signing and worthy of say a 2 year extension. Let him prove what he can do with this team.

Anyone bothered by the continual leaks from the Mets’ organization? Every major story is leaked. It’s just indicative of the work Alderson has ahead of him. Ppl feel empowered to go behind backs, court their own press contacts, give out sensitive information thus ensuring that Backman, Melvin, and the other guy learn of their fate on the internet instead of by phone call from Alderson.
This is a very sick organization and don’t kid yourselves into thinking we’re out of the woods. I think the over/under on Alderson is two years. He had to run the manager decision by Jeffy and now the leaks continue as usual. I’m trying to be optimisitic, but I think 60 years + Sandy says ‘f**k this’ once he gets a real taste for the Wilpons. Hoping I’m wrong, but I was so f**king right about gangsta and omar notwhithstanding the relentless defense of those schmoes on this very blog.
