BMF Goes to Bat for Doc Gooden
OK everyone needs to just hang on a second about this whole Doc Gooden thing.
BMF is here to say it 100% did NOT go down the way everyone is assumes it did.
I can’t blame anyone for leaping to conclusions, and honestly, a year ago I probably would’ve shaken my head and chalked it up to another slip by a recovering addict. But that was before I got to know Doc
BMF had the opportunity to interview Dwight last April during a Mo’s Zone promotion in CityField and ever since we’ve been developing a reality show based on his return to NY, working with young ball players and his son Lil Doc a hot rapper in Tampa.
I was in touch with Team Gooden tues nite when I first heard whispers and while I’m not at liberty to disclose any details I have heard Doc’s side and what has come out in the press is FAR from an accurate portrayal of what went down
Gooden is taking his time to respond- as people with lawyers are generally advised to do. But rest assured when Dwight speaks everything will make a lot more sense.
Because all things considered it was a relatively innocent mistake.
I feel bad because Doc and his wife have a 2 week old newborn at home.
I hope people can withhold judgement until all details come out.
Hang in there Doc!

Mojo Kitty rocks the batting helmet for luck!

Adam - thanks for using my photo in this post. I hope what you say is true and the real story will come out because like most Mets fans I was sadden when I heard the news yesterday.

Those are a mountain of charges against Doc to have been developed from ” a relatively innocent mistake”.I hope your right,I really do.
But if it turns out he was driving around stoned on his perscription drugs with a child in the vehicle…thats not a innocent mistake. That is something that should be punished severely!

I’m hoping your right BMF but if not I agree with Harry James. It hurts because I’ve been a Gooden fan from day 1 and having met Gooden a couple of times, he could not have been a nicer guy. But infuriates me when anyone gets behind a wheel intoxicated and to have a child i nthe car well, this story better be good

Oy veh, I REALLY, REALLY hope you are right, but I agree with the peeps above: so many people are murdered by intoxicated drivers, in the car or on the street. I have witnessed SEVERAL pedestrian deaths in my lifetime, two women (a mother and daughter) killed on the corner of 59th and 7th ave, was almost killed myself in the Santa Monica Farmer’s Market by a 76 year old senile driver (and 12 people died, including a baby), and a friend of mine was run over and killed by joyriding 13 year olds while waiting at a bus stop in Queens. She was 16 years old. There is no excuse to get behind the wheel if you are drunk, stoned, senile, texting, etc—–NONE. I hope Doc is innocent, but I really have no sympathy for anyone who does that.

Where he got pulled over is a notorious speed trap, with multi million dollar homes litered everywhere. FLPD would have pulled him over for doing 2 mph over the limit anyways; it’s what they do to every resident of the town on that particular street.
I’d love to believe it, but I don’t think there can possibly be a logical explaination to the laundry list of charges there supposedly are against Doc. Although he may be a great person, loving father and husband, he still deserves to be treated like any other person would be if they broke the law in this way.

Every time I see Doc now I get so sad .. with Strawberry that team should have won many more Championships ..

Is Elin involved?

If you’ve ever been around recovering people you know that these things happen. I don’t know any facts beyond anyone else…but you don’t typically run off after rear-ending a car unless you have something else going on.
My prayers are with Doc as he battles this affliction.
March 25th, 2010 at 12:43 pm
Screw doc. He deserves what he gets.
March 25th, 2010 at 2:10 pm
BMF I hope you are you are coming up to the plate with a very BIG Bat…I belive that the Fat Lady is singing….game over!
I think we have to separate Dwight Gooden the ballplayer from the Dwight Gooden the man, otherwise or judgement gets clouded.
Just the fact that his son was not wearing a seatbelt in the backseat and that you leave the scene of an accident should tell you something is wrong!…Innocent people don’t leave the scene of a minor fender bender!
It is really sad, but I am going to take the complete other side of this and say this is going to be very bad!

In my life i’ve learned there are always 2 sides of a story
This certainly doesnt sound like there is a resonable excuse but I’m willing to keep my mind open until more comes out

Hey Adam, been a while but great job on this entry. People were so quick to condemn, yet the details have emerged from his agent and it turns out just to have been Ambien.
While it may not have been a wise choice for his MD to prescribe this to someone w/ an addictive personality, it is certainly not him riding down the street with his face covered in coke while shooting at the cops and dangling his baby from the sunroof, as the media would have had us believing the past few days. Great work on this entry, bro. Gotta have you back on the show soon.

Hey, Matt the Met Fan, is Syracuse gonna quit tonight or play hard?
March 25th, 2010 at 6:26 pm
I hate the press. Media. Whatever you want to call it nowadays.
Because it SURE AS HELL AIN’T JOURNALISM!
March 25th, 2010 at 7:16 pm
EJ from the happy recap: oh, so his agent says it was just Ambien. Well, thanks for clearing that up. Usually these things take a while to sort out, but, hey, if his agent says it was just Ambien, well, that’s good enough for me. He also announced that Doc was tired from his cross country autograph tour and that he’s tired from staying up all night taking care of his newborn, and haven’t we all been there. So many mitigating circumstances, so little time…
I’m not saying he’s guilty, but his agent coming to his defense is a little like Boras claiming that his player has never done steroids. You have to remember the source, is all I’m saying.
March 25th, 2010 at 8:57 pm
I’ll still be cheering loud as hell when Doc’s introduced August 1st.
March 25th, 2010 at 8:59 pm
Do you think this will changes the Wilpons mind about having him inducted?
March 25th, 2010 at 9:59 pm
I feel bad for the guy. He pissed away a lot of talent.

Is there a pharmacuetical hall of fame? He’s a lock to get in there.
March 26th, 2010 at 1:38 am
MtMF, condolences. Thought they had it when they roared back to take a four-point lead late but then they just fell apart.
March 27th, 2010 at 2:12 am
Eff Doc, and eff the hypocrisy I am seeing from Met fans.
If it was any other guy driving around under the influence of drugs with his 5 year old in the car, you would all have the pitchforks out. But somehow this piece of garbage is supposed to get a free pass because he won the Cy Young 25 years ago and then blew it up his nose?
He’s a junkie. Plain and simple.

BMF - what a douche you are.
Ryan Church = racist without proof.
Doc Gooden = innocent because you want it to be so.
I f**king despise you.
