Are the Kids Saving Minaya?

Izzit possible Ike Davis, Jennry Mejia, John Neise and Fernando Martinez have been sent by the baseball Gods to ressurect our embattled GM’s reputation?

BMF thinks the answer may be yes..

A bumper crop of blossoming prospects would quickly buy Omar some much needed credit with ownership and fans. In fact if he’s suddenly sitting on 3-4 legitimately bright young stars he’ll get more leeway with the big club.

Of course if the Mets are a catastrophe O will be gone regardless of what the minor league system looks like. But…

If the Mets even have just a decent season (above .500 and in the WC hunt) but the kids are all blowing up individually I think O might be OK.

The truth is we Met fans just need a reason to believe. The last few seasons we believed winning it all was a possibility. But this year all we want is to believe were getting better and developing young talent.

Minaya has always been thought of as a talent evaluator and was brought here for exactly that reason. Yet with all the resources and hype our farm system has produced very meager talent.

We don’t have to win the WS or even the WC for Minaya to experience a rebirth but what we do need is for Mejia, Davis, F-Mart and Niese to make their marks… Because there’s nothing like young talent to reinvigorate a fanbase.

Decent season??? With our payroll we better be in the thick of the wild card!..This fan wants to win now!

With Omir Santos hitting inside the park grand slams…coming into home standing up without even a throw we are a lock!

  2. JoeG Says:

One problem-where are you gonna put F-Mart? Can he play 2nd(tongue-in -cheek)????

  3. JJ Says:

How can someone be a good evaluator of talent; yet put a team on the field with a $130M payroll that we all agree looks like a .500 club that’s full of question marks? Right now I’m inclined to believe that the answer lies in the fact that the afore mentioned prospects have not had to perform outside of the first week of ST or in their (albeit) brief stints in the majors they have been overwhelmed.

  4. USMF Says:

I don’t think you can questions O’s ability to read talent as much as you can questions his ability to…

    A. Keep that talent in a system that’s not run by a @sshole how would rush players, play favorites, not let talent properly develop and take his shirt off and challenge them to a fight.

    B. have high draft picks in his pocket and not waste them on signing aging ranked FA’s.

    C. being late to the party realizing that players in the “post roid era” tend have a drop off in productivity after the age of 35.

    D. not to overspend on aging and/or overrated free agents.

    E. when to know when to put hurt players on the DL before they seriously injure themselves.

    F. when to keep his mouth shut and control his emotions when speaking to the media

  5. Winifred Flammang Says:

Did you create your own blog or did a program do it? Could you please respond? 76

  6. WWMD Says:

Rookies should not be hyped during Spring Training, except toward the last couple of weeks. You people need to back away from the alter a little. These kids are getting fat fastballs after fat fastballs after fat fastballs. Don’t forget, it’s Spring Training for the pitchers and they don’t start “pitching” till the end of camp. Everone relax on the kids and hope Reyes and his thyroid is OK.

  7. BlondiesJake Says:

I just think maybe BMF hedges a little perhaps when he says things might go one way and because of that other things could turn out another way.

    LET’S GO METS!
I HOPE THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT!
BMF MAY OR MAY NOT AGREE WITH WHAT HE DID OR DIDN’T WRITE!

  8. Matt the Met Fan Says:

aren’t we dead last in producing MLB players? unlike the 80’s when we dominated that …

  9. Reyes'Thyroid Says:

Please take to a doctor. I like the one in Toronto best. He’s got those special secret drugs. Makes me feel better fast. Strong too.
