Coaching Shakeup Underway

Word is Sandy Alomar Sr. and First Base Coach Luis Alicea will not be returning for the 2010 season. While Alomar Sr. will be offered another position within the organization. It looks like Alicea is out. I have to say that after a full season I still could barely recall Aliceas name. I feel like he was invisible out there which is not what I want from anyone on the coaching staff.

Meanwhile Razor Shines will be reassigned which I tAke aa good news. While I love his attitude and passion his calls at third were awful.

BMF was glad to see HoJo back as hitting instructor but I was definitely hoping to get Dave Duncan in here to replace Dan Warthen.

I wonder if the Mets will still persue Duncan… they definitely should

BMF spotted this on the boards yest from “Adam”

I want to pass something along in case anybody else wants to do what I just did.

I just called the Mets season tickets customer relations line (718-565-4360) and told them them I was a season ticket holder (which I am). I went on to say that I don’t know if you guys log these calls, but I am very disappointed with the management of the Mets (in particular with Omar Minaya and Jerry Manuel). I am very disappointed in today’s news, which seems to indicate that both Omar and Jerry will be back next year. At this point, I do not intend to renew my season tickets. And I will not renew my season tickets unless Bobby Valentine is back with the team in some capacity next year.

The man on the phone responded by saying that yes, he does log these calls, and thanks very much for calling.

Anyone who feels similarly to me, I think today is a good day to call (end of season plus the news that Jerry will be back next year). It seems pretty clear that the Mets are not making any changes to management over the offseason.

    Note to Omar,
The Mets need to not worry about coaching positions and all this media hoopla and get to work. We need a smart signing like Ben Sheets while everyone else is paying attention to the playoffs. They may not be able to anounce the signing but that doesn’t mean they can’t sign him or get a conversation started in the right direction. You want a chance of not being crapped on for the next month, get to work. You got an F this year… but we still love you and the core players. Next year is not about luck, it’s about getting it done. If we are not in the playoffs this time next year, no one should consider their position safe.
    Let’s Go Mets!

    GOOD CALL Metsstem!!!

Is Mets Inc. in trouble or not?? Does Wilpon have to pay back profits, what’s going on there, because yes I’m too lazy to look it up myself. Just wondering whether they are no longer in the mood to eat anybody’s contract, so we may be stuck with Minaya for the duration. Just wish we could find a good practical useful job for Ollie instead of pitching… like putting the ball back on the tee for the little sluggers in the back there.
Big thank you to BMF for hanging in there and giving us all something to think about, and a safe place to visit.

I’m bored. I had nothing to watch on TV last night.

I called in as well, but asked for LaRussa and Duncan to be brought in. Valentine is a circus clown.

  6. IrishMike Says:

As I suspected and ranted about a few months back it looks like in spite of all rumors to the contrary the Mets did not lose any money to Bernie Madoff. In fact they made money.

Firing the first base coach and moving the bench coach to another spot???? Does anybody really care or think this is a move that’s going to lead to an improved product next year?

Nibbler the Rally Bird says, “squak, next year, next year, next year . . .”

  10. JJ Says:

I’m with you Dude….as long as the steps are forwards, and not sideways or backwards…with this organization the latter two are entirely possible!

  11. Helix Says:

Izzit me or does Jeff Wilpon look like Alfalfa from “The Little Rascals”. I”m sorry, but the dude does nothing to instill confidence in where this organization is going. And to hear Jerry and Omar claim “responsibility” for this team’s disastrous performance rings so hollow there’s an echo.

This collective cadre of clowns couldn’t find a winning formula if it was surgically inserted in their arses.

On the bright side… how `bout them Rangers? Some awesome display of smash-mouth hockey over there in the Rock. Love to see the Devils and Marty Brodeur get stuffed in their house.

  12. Big Tony Says:

Anyone out there remember Shea in 1979? Totally empty. That’s the only thing that will make an impact on this ownership.

Will not spend a nickle on the mets next year…

what a great game out in Minnesota! good to see CarGo bring home the winning run. That was baseball at its best. Now the Tigers know how the Mets felt the last two years. Detroit had a seven game lead in early September, and a three game lead with four to play. Not like Detroit collapsed, though. That would be unfair to say–but Minnesota just would not lose. 17 out of 21 is pretty fracking amazing.
Anyway, good for Gardenhire and all the ex-Mets. Now go beat the Yanks. Please.
