Hang In Met Fans…Almost There…
Remember in the first Star Wars film when Luke and his rag tag squadron of X-Wing fighters are attacking the Death Star?
I think it’s the chubby X-Wing pilot who, as he is closing in on the bullseye that will destroy the entire Death Star is saying, “Almost there… Almost there…”
And then BLAM the tie-fighters blow him away.
Well that’s what BMF feels like right about now. The end of this awful season is within sight we just have to hang on a little bit longer…
Too bad our season blew up like the Death Star months ago.
So hang in there Met fans. Yes we all love baseball but this is embarrasing and flat out painful to watch luckily we’re almost there…

Mojo Kitty rocks the batting helmet for luck!

The pilot was Porkins.

Time to admit the Mets have another “?” for next year: closer.

Jerry Maunuel needs to be fired today!! This is not a knee jerk reaction to yet another horrendous Mets loss but rather the beginning to fixing this Mets team. Losing has become a accepted commonplace occurence within this organization and to bring back Manuel next year would be yet another accepted defeat. If the attitude is going to change, and it certainly DOES need to change, then Manuel needs to go pronto! Now, I happen to like Jerry on a personal level and he is probably a nice guy but he has definitely lost this team and fails to motivate and TEACH them fundamentals. To bring him back next year would be more of the same BS. Wouldn’t it be nice to close the book on this putrid year and start fresh with a new manager in 2010? I think it needs to be done today!!
BOBBY V IN 2010 !!!!! If not Bobby V then someone else who can light a fire under these guys.
BTW, last night’s game was hysterical. Is there anyone watching that didn’t know they were going to lose in the 9th? I actually called my wife over to watch the last inning so that we could both have a laugh! Sure enough the Mets didn’t disappoint!!

I work in Delaware and for the third straight year have to watch the Phillies celebrate the division title. Really sucks!
October 1st, 2009 at 8:58 am
I am not proud to say that I was actually in attendance for the horrific loss last night. Not only is it bad to get swept out of DC, but its worse to have so no name batter on a team with the worst record in baseball history knock a Grand Salami off K-ROD! What a horrible team, what a horrible year and what a horrible team to watch them lose to. Something needs to be shaken up in Metsland because I’m not sure how many more years I can sit through 162 games of trash!

And just like with Star Wars I believe we’ll see many sequels to this disaster of a season. This isn’t goning to get better because Reyes comes back.
Sorry Buck..there’s no way Bobby V comes back as manager. He’s way too smart to walk into this mess. If Manuel does go expect some moronic Art Howe clone…
October 1st, 2009 at 9:22 am
JJ .. I agree ..
I have a friend who says we have to trade Reyes . that his game is speed and hamstrings like that take 2 years to come back from and he’s one of the few bargaining chips we got ..

I still say Mex would do a great job as the Skipper….or at least somebody like him….
October 1st, 2009 at 1:31 pm
jj: and just like Star Wars we’ve seen many prequels to this disaster of a season. The question now is whether next year will be more like “Attack of the Clones” or “Return of the Jerri”…………
October 1st, 2009 at 1:37 pm
Might be your best post of the season BMF.
Mex as manager? With this bunch? I see a murder indictment for Keith in that future….
October 1st, 2009 at 2:28 pm
I think Mex knows his limits…and anything pre-meditated like that means no more trips as free man to Sag Harbor or the Shake Shack.
I just think somebody from that era and who has matured enough would be a better candidate.
How old is Jerry anyway?..he looks 65+

WALLY BACKMAN FOR MANAGER! He’s a fiery guy, knows the game, his teams have won wherever he has managed, and he’d be thrilled to have the job.
LET’S GO METS (IN 2010)!
HEAL, REYES’ HAMSTRING, HEAL!
WALLY BACKMAN FOR MANAGER!

If we can’t get Bobby V back, how ’bout Larry Bowa?
He has learned how to win under Torre, but he will kick their asses (unlike Willie).
And it will completely anger Phillies fans.
October 1st, 2009 at 4:50 pm
Thumbs up for Bobby V or maybe give Carter a shot at the bigs
October 1st, 2009 at 6:00 pm
I vote for Scott Bakula.
October 1st, 2009 at 6:56 pm
I just can’t even imagine Keith at the helm. No Way!!
I’d rather have Ron there. I think Ron is a secret hardass.
If there’s gonna be a replacement, it will have to be a cheap one.
October 1st, 2009 at 8:24 pm
Bobby V. w/ Mex on the bench, Mookie at 1st, Wally at 3rd, Carter w/ the catchers, HoJo w/ the batters (maybe…), and… Dave Duncan w/ the pitchers.
Ya gotta believe!
October 2nd, 2009 at 12:31 am
Maybe there should be a “Fantasy Baseball Coaching League”???
You get to fire/hire them at will and no messy big moola contracts!!!!
A one-two punch with the Bobby V./Mex line up..that’ll keep the players on their toes..as well as the owners.
October 2nd, 2009 at 9:31 am
I think John’s coaching lineup could have won more games if they played this year than the “regulars.”
October 2nd, 2009 at 9:36 am
I’ve never seen Star Wars
October 2nd, 2009 at 1:28 pm
Maybe Omar can get Ted Williams’ severed head to play left field next year. It looks like he wants out of Arizona, and he probably wouldn’t cost much.

CW - That’s one of the players to be named later from the Wagner trade that Omar’s been waiting for…
October 2nd, 2009 at 8:24 pm
JJ - I hear that Mo Vaughn is the other player to be named later. We put Mo on first, bring back Sid Fernandez to pitch. Who knows - maybe we get Charlie Weiss to play center field?
October 2nd, 2009 at 11:33 pm
Hold on BT…don’t give Omar any bright idea’s. I hear he’s already scouting Rex Ryan in case Reyes isn’t ready for opening day 2010.
October 3rd, 2009 at 12:17 am
I guess that brings a whole new meaning about ‘heads are going to roll!’
Getting back from the game ……well worth the trip to see the Mets roll over the ‘Stros…..I guess we are all on a roll…..
