Sorry Charlie Ya Gotta Go

Everything you hear about Charlie Samuels from players, both ex and current, is that he was a great guy. A real friend and mentor to generations of players who came through the organization. A friend who would help a player in any way he can including allowing them to stay at his home if needed.

But it turns out good old Charlie has been betting with the mob, betting on baseball no less, feeding them information, skimming money on team hotel deals, and liquidating Met equipment to memorabilia dealers.

Now that word is out so is Charlie and as a Met fan BMF is happy to see it. I’m sure he’s a great guy and all but now that the Mets are in reorganization mode I’d like to see the franchise fumigated from top to bottom.

So if there are any other clubhouse guys, groundskeepers, hot dog vendors or shake shack employees with Mob connections and/or selling steroids can we please root them out now.

Because the Mets seem to lead the sports world with the most crooked employees that end up being outed on national news.

I’m surprised that it took this long to can him. Once this story broke you had to know it was going to have a bad ending. If you want to change the culture and attitude and turn this team around for the long haul this kind of scrutiny needs to continue from top to bottom.

I totally agree with you BMF. This is also another reason I want them to continue bringing in staff and hopefully a manager from OUTSIDE the organization!

Don’t look now but its only 3 months away till “Pitchers and Catchers report for spring training!”

First game is Feb 26 and yours truly will be reporting live from PSL….Woo hoo!

FMFR, you always seem so positive. How do you do it with this team?

Its easy to be positive during this time of year. Now and through Spring Training “Hope Springs Eternal”

Its only when this team takes the field and actually has to play games that it gets a little Dicey!

LETS GO METS!!!…We are finally heading in the right direction….Now we just need to convert it to the field with some wins!

    “Just Win Baby!”

Next step..get rid of Howard Johnson. The Mets need a hitting coach that actually hit well as a player.

I like how things are progressing with the Mets. No quick, rash decisions, things are being thought out and all candidates for the managerial opening are quality people. Obviously Backman isn’t going to manage the Mets this year. Keep him in the minors, familiarize himself with the youngins and have him work his way up. Whoever the new manger is should pick his own staff. If he decides to keep people, great, if he wants new blood everywhere so be it. I think I’m behind any decisions Alderson makes for now. I’m curious as to how the pitching situation will work out, trade or free agent or promote from the farm? What will/can be dome with OP & Castillo? Looking forward to these questions Wong answered. 91 days till pitchers & catchers…

“I’m sure he’s a great guy and all”

Not sure I can reconcile those two thoughts.

Now you just need a manager. Here’s hoping the next round of interviews wrap up before Opening Day.
