Be Afraid Met Fans - Be Very Afraid
While I was elated to see Livan deliver the goods (yet again!) and secure the series win in DC, BMF is dreading the next six games v the Phils and yanks.
Normally I’m ready to rumble with our two biggest rivals but this time I feel naked going against them without Reyes and Delgado. Sure we can beat the Nats and Fish with one hand tied behind our back but consecutive showdowns with possibly the 2 best teams in baseball, could easily turn into a bloodbath.
The good news is Church is back and paid immediate dividends with a pair of hits Sunday. I was happy to see him swinging the bat well but not at all surprised. The thing about Church is he generally starts out gangbusters before cooling off. I find myself with less and less confidence in our starting Tight End’s ability to stay on the field so hopefully he can unload this week before he once again loses playing time like he always seems to for one reason or another.
More good news for the Mets, besides the fact that David Wright is hot again, is Gary Sheffield. The Sheff has been hampered by a cranky leg but you just KNOW he’s gonna have a big series versus his old team in the Bronx!
Of course Johan, Beltran and K-Rod can all dominate this week but they’re so undermanned they’ll need some of that good old Met magic to come out of the next 6 games with our pride in tact.

Honestly how much is F-Mart gonna play this week???
Martinez seems to be getting some legs under him so while i think we’ll definitely see him start at CityField v Philly would Jerry really send him out there in yankee stadium ala Carlos Gomez a couple of years ago???
I’ll be fascinated to see what the General does with the line-up card.

BMF is happy to welcome a new sponsor “C+ Pictures”.
The guys at C+ are Brooklyn indie folk who shot the romantic comedy “Last International Playboy”. They’re doing a marketing blitz right now so you may see ads running on MTA buses inteh 5 boroughs during June and July.
By entering the BMF code you get 25% off a DVD and merchandise
Check it out!

Emma takes her Mets VERY seriously!

That’s a great photo of the ball coming in high and tight on young David.
I’m looking forward to a bunch of great games coming up. If the bottom feeders can bring it to games against us, we can certainly bring to the next 2 series. (Can’t we???)
I wouldn’t throw F-mart to the wolves just yet though. I hope Jerry keeps the vets in there. It’s like that ole baseball saying, just get the out here… just get the win here.
Caught Bastardo last night, he’s not bad. Or maybe it was the lack of Miller that brightened the evening.

Hernandez shook off the flu before dismissing the Nationals with seven shutout innings Sunday in a 7-0 win before 31,841 at Nationals Park.
“I was sick and threw up before the game,” Hernandez said. “I don’t care. I like to pitch. I didn’t sleep good last night. … I didn’t feel good, but I like to pitch, no matter what.”
LOVE THIS.

Why, oh why, do we have to burden Martinez with a silly “F-mart” tag. Isn’t there anything better? What happened to originality?

Glad to see the advertising/marketing division of BMF picking up the slack !! way to go !!
Can’t help but remember Delgado’s “coming out” party at Yankee stadium last year .. In that BS HR park couldn’t even imagine how many HR’s he would have hit there ..
Our HR numbers are so down right now it would be nice to see a couple of shots this weekend
anyone going Wednesday night ?

chris - I read on a blog somewhere we should call him f-bomb. I have been pushing that.
I def think he plays against the yanks. With the DH rule, you know shef wont be in the field… so why not? Maybe tatis gets one start out there, but I bet f-bomb gets the other two.

BMF, why should we fans be afraid? The Phillies just blew two games against the Dodgers, who aren’t hitting like the 1927 yankees these days, as Brad Lidge did his best Armando Benitez impression. They didn’t even have to face Chad Billingsley in the series and scored a mere 15 runs in the four games (thanks to a 7-run game last night against Randy Wolf and relievers not named Broxton).
The Mets have Johan and Pelfrey going against J.A. Happ and Cole Hamels the first two games. Santana has been great against Philly (3-0, 2.44 era, 47Ks in 48 IP) and Pelfrey has beaten them twice already this season. Hamels is 1-3 lifetime against the Mets and J.A. Happ has given up 3 HRs and has a 4.40 era in 14.1 IP against NY.
Professor Reyes, it’s time for F-Mart, F-Bomb, Danny Martinez, whatever you want to call him to get a taste of big-time competition. If he makes some mistakes, so be it. You learn from mistakes. I say let him play.
FGMF (and others), I hated the Livan signing at the time, but am thankful to have been completely wrong. Of course now that I typed this, he’ll probably tank the rest of the season. I hope I’m wrong about that too.
LET’S GO METS!
THE ROTATION NEEDS TO KEEP CURING THE ILLS!
EFF THE PHILS, THIS IS OUR PARK (or maybe the Brookly Dodgers, but let’s not quibble)!

Throw Fernando out there, no question. If he is going to stay up, he has to play and that includes at the little league field aka the New Skankee Stadium.
