Shea Goodbye Rally at Noon! BE THERE!!!
Where: Shea Stadium
When: High Noon
Why: One last glimpse of the old girl
Don’t know if I can make it at noon but hearing about the latest fan rally has inspired BMF to definitely visit Shea one more time.
Gotta love Met fans for pulling off 2 spontaneous rallies inside of a week!
Btw BMF fully endorses Matt Cerrone’s plea to leave just one small piece of Shea wall standing. Even if it was in the middle of the parking lot it’d be so freakin’ cool!!!!
Greatest idea I’ve heard in awhile!!!

Mojo Kitty rocks the batting helmet for luck!

great video–it’s Amazing how much the construction film looks like the destruction videos from the same stage of the project. They are taking her apart the same way they put her together, albeit with a bit more violence. When you look at some of those stadium deconstruction pix, and see the workers inside that skeleton, working with those fire cutter/welder torches– it just shows how precise the whole operation is. I mean, you are looking what appears to be a complete wreck, and yet there are workers in there driving bobcats through the wreckage. Obviously, the structure still has some integrity–they don’t feel like it’s all going to come toppling down on them at any moment. Perhaps that means that leaving a small piece of wall standing wouldn’t be a huge safety hazard, but I don’t know. It would make a pretty cool sculpture, but it might just make fans feel bad every time they walked by. Or make you feel like you were going through a war zone or something.
I said my official goodbyes to Shea on my last visit in September, when I got to let my kids run the bases. That was a cool memory–I think I’ll stick with that as my last in-person visual.

Holy cow there’s actually talk on Metsblog comments about wishing for Dontrelle. I don’t want him as much as I did 2 years ago but why not tuck him in somewhere?
Stay warm if you’re going to Shea, take pics.

Cerrone reported that there are 200+ people out there. That’s awesome - I’m excited to see photos.

Too sad to look at….

My fiance and I went today and it was surreal. First off, it was absolutely freezing and you had to make sure you didn’t fall on the ice to get to the fence around the stadium. I think we stayed about an hour, just walking around the perimiter taking pictures and talking to people. It’s sad to see her go, but its also bittersweet in the same, hopefully we will be getting an upgrade in CityField, if we can afford to get in. If anyone wants to see my pictures I can email them out, or whatever people do with their pictures these days. Email me at sbreslove@hotmail.com if you wanna see them.
and as always,
Let’s Go Mets
