NY Mets Then and Now
*** VACATION POST - PLEASE EXCUSE NO PIX AND XTRA TYPOS -POSTING VIA PHONE ***
THEN - As recently as mid-June the Mets were a bad and unlikeable team
NOW - We’ve witnessed a turn around of epic proportions and people are believing there may be enough magic in old Shea for one final run at glory
THEN - We hated Delgado and wanted to see him released
NOW - We’re lobbying for LosD’s MVP consideration and penciling him in as the starting 1B in ‘09
THEN - We were actually waiting for Moises Al-Who to resurface
NOW - Met fans have been re-energized by Murphy, Tatis and Evans
THEN - Some debated El Duque or Mike Pelfrey
NOW - Big Pelf Fever is in full effect!
THEN - Met fans across the globe convened on BMF to call for Randolph’s job as the team languished below .500
NOW - “Jerry The General” has the boys playing inspired baseball and sitting pretty atop the division
THEN - Last year’s first week of September is remembered as the calm before the collapse but in truth we were all frustrated by an underachieving team we hoped could somehow”turn it on” for the post season
NOW - Manuel’s troops look like they’re ready for battle and won’t back down against anyone they face
THEN - Earlier this year we thought the Phils were unbeatable as they seemingly scored 15 runs a game
NOW - Philly comes into Big Shea with Met fans dreaming of a sweep to push them 6 back with 3 weeks to go
THEN - We’ve been tortured by the phrase “7 up with 17 to play” since the collapse
NOW - BMF is rooting for a 7 game lead with 17 to play just to put those friggin’ demons to bed FOREVER!!!
THEN - The Jets didn’t have a chance
NOW - With Favre lining up under center ANYTHING is possible
THEN - BMF was a 1 football team fan
NOW - After the Giants incredible run and defeat of the hated Patriots BMF is calling for a unified NY Football fanbase that roots for both teams - GO BIG BLUE AND GANG GREEN!

Mojo Kitty rocks the batting helmet for luck!

With Hurricane Hannah on the way this might be the most exciting Mets baseball news of the next 24-36 hours.
Well said BMF. From your vacation lair, are you getting New York of Philly stations?

BMF–
We are on the same wavelength. I posted a similar (visual) entry on my blog last night.

I couldn’t feel more excited than what i feel now… wow big weekend coming on !!!
Btw BMF, asking people to unify for both football teams will be like asking Mets and Yanks to root for the same team, or like asking Obama and Cain to unify in only one side, or even asking Phanatic to let go of the hot pockets… no nevermind that last one
I have 2 x-tra tickets for tomorrow’s game, field level, anyone interested email me at alex_jersey84@hotmail.com

The storm could be bad. I can see it now:
The Heidi Game
The Storm
There will be a late season make up game for the D!!!
Nah. Anyway. I’m not talking - but - this team is rolling. We’re not gonna get swept. The Phillies need this more than we do, Not that the Mets should not come out wanting to kill.
F–K the Giants and the Yankees.

btw Corey I finally fell for your info and went to your blog, interesting report about moving Castillo out of town , and converting Murphy to 2nd, the mets can easily pay big part of the around 20mil that’s left after this year… anything to get rid of him !!!

Good luck, Mets, from a Phillies fan. At least we’re not losing to the Braves!
I told my coworkers that, if the season theoretically never ended, my theory this year is that the 2 teams would swap positions forever, like out-of-phase sine waves. Because the season must end, however, it’s almost arbitrary which team will be in 1st come Sept. 28th.
Fans of whichever team that finishes 2nd this season should not be ashamed of their team.

Great Minds think alike KC…

Aaron G. Stock-
Both teams stink.
I think we stink less.
If we can get 2 of 3 from the phils this weekend, I don’t think you’ll get back in the top spot, but I do NOT underestimate Rollins and that bunch.
Between the two of us, the Phillies are the NL East Division Defending Champs.

count me in for a general manuel shirt.. talk to me.. what we thinking..met orange as main color?

The injury to Zambrano could be a very good thing for the Mets…
If Zambrano is still hurting, the Cubs would probably limit his pitching the last week of the season…I’d like to think the Mets would have the division wrapped up by then, but it’ll probably go until the final weekend…missing out on facing a guy like Zambrano is only good for us…
September 5th, 2008 at 2:25 pm
I think Zambrano’s problem is worse than they are letting on.
September 5th, 2008 at 2:31 pm
if the cubs lose zambrano and harden for extended period of time they are in deep sh*t..hardest schedule of all teams fighting for nl playoffs…including 6 with milwaukee
September 5th, 2008 at 4:53 pm
i GUARANTEE we win this division.
September 5th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
dykstraw, you’re effing CRAZY, man… in the best way possible.
heading to Shea with FGMF and family, time to HUNKER DOWN and tear the Phils a new one…
BIG PELF, FTW!!!
