Ike Who?

BMF has been resisting the temptation to say Lucas Duda can replace Ike Davis - but after seeing Duda tumble into the stands ala Ike while snagging a foul pop I think it’s safe to say Ike Davis has been replaced.

This is no dis to Ike. I love rooting for the kid and I truly hope this leg injury doesn’t ruin his career. It’s not supposed to be career threatening but it wasn’t supposed to be more than a couple of days so…

Another bow should be taken by Duda after powdering a HR to right, collecting 3 hits, a BB, and getting robbed of an RBI when his rope up the middle hit the ump

I’ll even call it a statement win from Terry Collins’ NY Mets. And the statement was: we don’t care if we’re 11 out of the Wild card. We love the game and we’re playing our asses off.

I love it when Thole hits. I’m convinced this kid can be a productive bat as a Big League catcher he just needs time. And nights like his 3-3 with a HR and 3 RBI made me know he’s gonna be worth the wait.

Awesome for Izzy to ring up save #300 as a Met. I really like having him on this team.

Let’s Get a Dignity Win

Swept Outta Desert

Monday, August 15th, 2011

Does anyone else get the feeling the Mets are slipping close to the abyss?

But IMO it doesn’t really matter. There’s no playoff hope this year and even if we plummeted through the final 6 weeks of the season Collins and Alderson aren’t losing their jobs.

So as we sit 4 games under .500 our goal for the season remains the break even point.

But there is good news: Namely Lucas Duda who blasted HR number 4 and picked up 2 hits on the day. The big man is really getting into a groove and I’m elated to see him manning first.

Who knows what will become of Ike. I sure do want hmmm back healthy for next year but I’m starting to get a bad feeling Ike may never be the same after the medical debacle the Mets just put him through.

Is Capuano about to get traded?

Send him packing if it’s a good deal and considering he cleared waivers he’s ready to go. I’ve loved Capuano but let’s be honest he’s replaceable.

Bats Ready for Capuano

Not sure why but I’ve got a feeling we’re ready for an offensive explosion today bs Marquis - or maybe that’s just wishful thinking

Tumultuous 24 for Big Pelf

It started with Pelfrey telling the Post he didn’t think the Mets were good enough to compete. The news broke just a couple hours before the game along with an anonymous quote from another player that Pelfrey ”cutting his own throat.”

Then Pelf went out had a rough first, settled down and was cruising until he took a liner off the elbow and was yanked.

Here are my thoughts:

Pelf spoke the truth. I’ve been saying the exact same thing since spring training. His mistake was saying that to a reporter.

As for the ”cutting his own throat.” line I don’t even know what that means other than someone didn’t like to hear that sentiment from a reporter.

But the fact remains the Mets weren’t equipped to win the WS this year and there’s nothing wrong with that.

But Pelfrey is having a tough year. He was slotted in way over his head as the team ace and didn’t respond well to the pressure. He’s shown flashes but no consistency so there’s bound to be frustration from all angles.

It’ll be interesting to see how the fanbase responds to this. My instinct is the reaction will be tepid. Fans generally like Pelf and I think we all know he’s being honest.

A solid W woulda helped but we’ll see…
