Wright Poised to Be Better Than Ever

Friday, July 22nd, 2011

All along I’ve been concerned about potential longterm effects to Wright’s back, but if there is no arthritis I think this Dal stint may be the best thing for David’s career.

For once he wasn’t in the middle of a Met firestorm. The kid has been carrying the weight of the franchise on his shoulders for years. Everything Mets points to him at all times - except now he’s finally gotten a break, forced to sit, watch and think about how he approaches the game on/off the field.

So maybe, just maybe Wright returns and gets back to simply playing ball and having fun.

All told the Mets are in a great place right now, the fans aren’t booing and the media doesnt hate them. Recent years has produced ugly, negative, controversial teams but under Collins there’s none of that.

Instead we’ve got a scrappy squad the fans are actually liking and rooting for.

I’m just sayin’

It’s 100 degrees today !

Say your goodbyes to Beltran

Can We Get a Standing O for Beltran Please?

Thursday, July 21st, 2011

Today may very well be Beltran’s last home game as a Met as the team hits the road for the next 11 days.

Beltran’s the hottest bat on the market, he’s punishing the ball and the Mets are highly motivated to deal him.

We all know we’re gonna miss this guy when he’s gone and for much of his time here the guy was painfully under appreciated.

So can we show a little class by standing to applaud him during Thursday’s day game?

Perhaps the first AB or maybe an AB later in the game so C’mon Met fans, and camp kids who are sure to pack the place tomm, BMF is hoping we give Carlos something to remember us by.

As for last nite’s win - PAGAN!!! Oh how sweet a walk-off HR is. It’s great to see Pagan out of the leadoff spot and already producing in back-to-back games.

Bay down with hamstring? No comment

Loved seeing Keith Gary and Ron call the game from the Pepsi Porch. This roving tv booth is perhaps the coolest PR thing the Mets have done since Banner Day. It’s creative, feels spontaneous, and now thanks to the Pepsi porch it’s probably revenue producing as well. If nothing else our tv booth mops the floor with those YES Network clowns.

Ike is Done

Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

It’s not official but the writing is on the wall Sir Ike is done for the year.

How we got to this point I have no friggin’ idea. Then again maybe I’m the pathetic one because I should know better than to be surprised when a day-to-day ding turns into a season ender.

It still really burns me up that this whole disaster would’ve been avoided if Wright or Davis simply called, “I Got It” or Pelfrey directed traffic. Even little leaguers know better than that… Grrrrrrrr

On the positive side the Mets are back to .500 after beating the Cards. Maybe I over reacted yesterday declaring that .500 was gone for the season.

Gee impressed by winning again 2R, 3H, 2BB 2K in 7IP. Gee is looking good off the field too having shaved his head, a much better look than a prematurely receding hairline on a young 20-something.

Big 2 two-run double from Pagan. Thank God he’s out of the leadoff spot hopefully he can get back in his groove again.

Beltran’s stock ticked up again with a 3-3 nite including 2 doubles, 2 runs and a pair of walks.
Hmmm Reyes is back, went 2-5 and the Mets won. The connection between the two is unmistakable - now let’s see how much it’s worth to the Wilpons.
