I think it’s official - Big Pelf is back to Big again.
It was rough sledding in the early season but Pelfrey has worked hard to get back to last year’s form.
Last night’s final line was 1R, 5H, 5K, 0BB in 9IP. My favorite stat is the ZERO walks. In fact Pelf hasn’t walked a batter in THREE GAMES!
The guy has just been pounding the strike zone and watching him close out the game was a testament to both his determination and Collin’s old skoolness as a skipper.
Pelf had 95 pitches after 7 so I thought he might not return for the 8th, but he did. That inning cost him 13 more pitches but Collins let him start the 9th.
Even after Turner booted what should’ve been the final out Collins let him stay in till the end which happened to come 1 pitch later.
• We’re back to within 1 game of .500 again.
• Bay collected 2 more hits
• Beltran obliterated a ball depositing it on the Shea Bridge
• Pagan is off and running swiping another bag
Just when we get a finger nail hold on .500 the Mets immediately drop 2 straight games.
All you’ve been hearing about the Anaheim/California Angels is how much they suck and have no offense.
Gary even mentioned the Halos couldn’t hit one out in BP so when someone finally lost a ball over the wall they ran around the bases in celebration. Man, is our ballpark so infamous it’s spooking teams in the AL West?!?
We may have helped them with an unearned run but they scored more than us winning 4-3.
Angel Pagan was the lone bright spot offensively going 2-4 with 2 RBI, SB. In fact Angel had a game tying RBI hit in consecutive innings.
Capuano wasn’t at his finest but still delivered a quality start allowing just 2ER (3R) in 6IP.
Hey let’s get ‘em tonite.
yes I still call ‘em the California Angels!
I suppose it was too much to ask for, a sweep in the House of Horrors. We were soooo close….
A triumphant sweep was within reach, up by a pair with K-Rod on the mound. But a 2 run shot was just the kick to the nuts needed to derail the Mets.
Sure enough the game ended an inning later on a Balk from Carrasco. What a preposterous way to lose a game.
But the good news is Bay rapped out 2 more hits.
In fact the bats were humming, including 3 more hits from Reyes.
RA was shaky, at best but if this is the wort start we get from him I can live with that deal.
Interesting that Pagan didn’t start. Hairston had a big game so it was the right call but I gotta wonder if this wasn’t punishment for not sliding 2 notes ago?
Now on to Anaheim to face the Halos, sans Scott Kazmir who was just released. And no I don’t “want” him per say but I’d definitely take a shot on him for a minor league deal.
Right? Wouldn’t you?
