Are Mets Really in Wild Card Hunt???

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

Shockingly the Mets are now 2 games over and a mere 5 games off the pace of the Wild Card leading  Braves.

Not to mention the Mets’ 50R over last 4 games breaks franchise record for most ever across 4 games.

BMF has been a staunch believer that we aren’t making the post season and should deal Beltran and K-Rod accordingly. But… these Mets are starting to percolate and I think I’m starting to believe.

Of course the moment I start believing again they’ll invariably hit the skids because of course these are still the Mets.

As for the game:

Chris Capuano started great, finished shaky, but got the Win. He’s 7-7 after allowing 5R, 6H, 0BB, and 6K in 5 IP - hey we owed him a cheap W.

Pagan is almost Reyes hot after banging out 4H, 4RBI, 3R and a SB.

Last nite’s Bay watch was pretty damn good 1-2, 2R, 4BB, RBI, 2SB, 1 spectacular catch and 1 very good catch.

Ho-hum Jose Reyes banged out another multi-hit game along with SB number 30th - can you say MVP?

Break Up The Mets!

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

Holy Crap - not only have the Mets won 5 of 6 to climb a game over .500, while scoring 36 runs across 3 games but they also ended their Grand Slam drought in… well, Grand fashion by clubbing Salamis in back to back innings.

Shockingly enough it was J-Bay who launched the first Granny in 2 years before Beltran foowed an inning later.

I hate to be a wet blanket but let’s stop short of declaring Bay out of his slump. A 4 run shot is exciting and all but he finished just 1-5 and actually lowered his avg to .234

Reyes somehow got HOTTER than he’s been going 4-4, BB, 3R and SB.

Possibly the best news of the night was Angel Pagan who went 3-3, RBI, 2BB, 2R and SB. I see Pagan as our secret weapon and if he’s hot the Mets are a very dangerous squad.

I’m already predicting a big series in the BX for Pagan.

Shout to Thole who cracked his first HR of the year. Josh remains only 3 bombs behind Bay!

Did anyone else catch a glimpse of Duda’s crazy looking hair in the dugout after one of the Grand Slams? I forget which bomb it was but a huge fan of Lucas’ hair was sticking straight up while the rest of it was looking very much like a bowl cut - lol. I’m gonna have to keep an eye on Duda’s hair style - he may need to step up his game now that he’s in the bigs - lol.

Texas Likes Beltran and K-Rod? Take ‘em Both

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

Jon Heyman reports the “Rangers interested in Beltran as well as K-Rod… Could be a big trade partner for Mets”

If that’s the truth I say we move on either/both of these deals asap. I realize the Wilpons are hoping to be “in the hunt” so they can make a few extra bucks in ticket sales but let’s be honest - that’s a farce. We ain’t making no playoffs - no way no how.

So if we can move Beltran and K-Rod I don’t even care what we net in return. I wish it weren’t like this but the broke ass Wilpons may have to let Reyes walk away so relieving ourselves of K-Rod’s 17M next year and about 1/2 of Beltran’s salary this year - providing we move him soon.

This is the money we need to allocate to Reyes next year. I don’t care about this season. I only care about building a winner within 2-3 years and to do so we need to retain Reyes.

Prospects in return would be great but let’s dump these salaries and put some money in the coffers to pay Jose.
