Lezzzz Go Mets!!!!!!!!!
Lezzzz Go Mets!!!!!!!!!
Some days its Ike Davis other days it’s Niese. Thole, Pridie, Beato and F-Mart have taken their turns too but Thursday afternoon our young heroes were Dillon Gee and Justin Turner.
Holy Crap Gee actually started dancing with immortality as he spun a no-hitter into the 6th. But alas it was not to be as Livan Hernandez (!!) singled to end it.
DRATS!!! Just when I was starting to fantasize about what sort of a legend Gee would become for tossing the first no-no and POOF the dream is gone in the blink of an eye.
Shout to Tejada who collected 2 hits himself yesterday.
Gotta give some love to Jason Bay who collected no less than three hits — THREE HITS!!! No runs or RBI but I’ll take 2 singles and a double from Bay any day.
I gotta say there’s something to be said about these hungry, athletic and talented young Mets.
Now let’s focus on the yankees. The past few years I’ve felt like a lamb going to slaughter vs the Evil Empire but this year I feel like we’re so young and so loose we can go in there and take 2 of 3.
Oh how sweet that’d be.
Whoops forgot all about this afternoon game
1-0 Mets right now - perhaps a second shutout?
Bravo to Niese (0R, 6H, BB, 7K in 7IP) Izzy (0R in IP) and K-Rod (0R IP) who combined for the first Met shutout since last September.
Those guys, and Murphy, got the job done defensively but Justin Turner provided the offense going 2-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI.
This kid is suddenly the Mets best player. OK maybe thats a bit of a stretch especially with Reyes goin’ OFF as the leagues leading hitter (3-4, 2R .322)
But the Turner kid has stepped in to fill the offensive void created by Wright, Ike and Bay all being disabled.
Of course Wright and Ike are on the 15 day DL but J Bay’s bat has been disabled ever since spring of ‘10
I know we’ve gotten a ton of rain but what’s up with the ponds of water on the infield?
I woulda thought all that money they went into debt for at least provided a state of the art field drainage system.
Again I know it’s been pouring but the field has been a mess since Monday.
If you live in NYC you had to be suspicious of last night’s Rainout especially when the SUN WAS SHINING around 6pm!
I’m going on instinct here but I think it’s fairly obvious whats going on:
• The Mets decided to game the system by declaring a rainout before the umpire crew got control of the situation.
• Management knew the team was shorthanded without Ike Davis and David Wright and rescheduling the game for later this summer would allow both players to return to action thus giving Mets a better chance to win
• By pushing the game to a warm summer day attendance is sure to be better than it would’ve been last night in the midst of a rainy week and terribly depressing month for Met fans.
I’m not mad at the Mets for pulling the plug last night, in fact just the opposite. We’ve seen the yankees pull this crap for years so I’m happy the Mets are finally savvy enough to do the same.
Gotta believe Alderson was pulling the strings here since the Mets have never acted this intelligently before.
