I honestly mean no disrespect to Jerry but the way I see it the man has zero chance of returning next year. I remain a Manuel fan but changes will need to be made and he is sure to be among the first.

They’re the two most obvious (and possibly only) choices so who do you think is the best man to lead the Mets back to relevance: Valentine or Backman?

It’s a tough choice ain’t it?

Here are BMF’s Pros and Cons to both:

Wally

Pros:

• Wally’s teams win. If you look at his minor league career the guy is a winner year in and year out

• Backman would be a refreshing change to the series of managers we’ve had in here since… well … Bobby V

• He’s an 86′er which alone is good enough for me

• The guy deserves a break after getting railroaded by media reports about domestic violence. Those 2 very ugly/powerful words are sometimes unfortunately
attached to situations that aren’t as horrendous as you instinctively think they are.

• His no nonsense White Trash I don’t give a flying F attitude just might supercharge the dormant Mets

• He could be the Met’s very own Billy Martin

Cons:

• If you needed to handicap an ugly managerial scandal erupting Wally’s odds would be a helluva lot shorter than Bobby’s

• Backman, missing teeth and all, just might prove to be too White Trash for NYC

• He could be the Met’s very own Billy Martin

Bobby V

Pros:

• Bobby motivates his players and extracts every ounce of talent from them

• Bobby has already won in NY

• With Valentine in the dugout we’ll instantly get that swagger back

• The Mets will become the Bobby Valentine show

• I like the role of Valentine as a reoccuring Met manager

• He could be the Met’s very own Billy Martin

Cons:

• In the past that swagger and attitude has worn thin on the team and fanbase and it may happen again

• The Mets will become the Bobby Valentine show

• He could be the Met’s very own Billy Martin

In the end I’m a big fan of both men and I think either could lead us to the WS but at this point BMF’s 1st choice is Bobby V.

That son-of-a-lucky-duck Jeff Franceour just got the golden opportunity to leave the sinking ship that is the NY Mets for the much greener pastures of… the Texas Rangers.

It’s strange to think of Texas as a greener pasture than we are but it definitely is. It’s supposed to be the other way around. The Mets were supposed to be the playoff bound team with the Rangers languishing towards the bottom of the division.

Oh how I wish I could go with him. I would love nothing more than to be in the thick of a pennant race with the playoffs to look forward to.

Who cares the Rangers will end up getting swept in the first round by the Yankees. At least they’ll get approx 12 more weeks of intense baseball than Met fans got.

Who did we trade him for? Joaquin Arias - a 25 year old SS/utility IF who seems to be a slick fielding, slap hitting player who is allergic to walks.

That’s a fine deal as far as BMF is concerned. I had no interest in Frenchy returning next season.

I think Met fans are all in agreement on Franceour: we really, really like the guy but just don’t think he’s that good.

I wish him the best of luck in TX this year and beyond.

Obtw the Mets were blown out in ATL again…
